Lock Down D/Intense D - Where is it?

    Hey guys,

Just wondering what is actually happening with "Lock Down D/Intense D" this year?

I'm all for the removal of "insta-lock on" type defense, but really enjoyed the features of shading a player towards a direction and also the 3 different levels of proximity to your man.

I honestly thought this was one of the best features to be added to a ball game in years last year.

Does anyone know if we will still have this ability to shade players and play up tight, medium distance, or stand off?

Or is everything going backwards in time to the days of "context sensitive"...?

Have played the draft combine demo and it doesnt seem to be there..

Thanks for that but I have already read through those great previews and Chase's thread. It just doesn't really seem to be talked about...I mean surely the shading towards a side and levels of D is something important, that they wouldn't take out. right?

I just remember. This guy who is with sales and got to play 2k10 early said they took out lock on D. Have you seen this one. (http://www.operationsports.com/forum...ue-2k10-5.html) Join in and ask questions if you want.

Also keep in mind that every player has HORRIBLE on ball D ratings to start. I'm sure you can tell the difference when you're using Ron Artest as opposed to your 45 rated on-ball defender.

Yeah so no more lock down D, so now you have to be fast with your controls and practice staying in front of your man your guarding. Watch out for those left handed players to.

I really like the ability to shade, but i suppose we'll see how this works out.

Well if you fully controll where your guy goes on defense then that would by definition entail shading wouldn't it?

I'm still worried about perimeter defense this year. It's one thing to have to anticipate the path of the ballhandler, it's another thing to do it in lag. I'm predicting right now that you're going to see a lot of people refusing the guard the ball handler because of this.

The problem in years past wasn't just lock on D it was a combination of it and the iso moves. The problem was that lock on D put you right in front of the ballhanlder, and iso moves really didn't make you move from side to side much. So basically all you'd have to do is stand there, with a slight movement to either side and you'd play perfect D (This is of course excluding the unguardable spins, hesitation dribble, and studder step). Unless collision detection is ramped way up on the perimeter this is going to be the year of constant penetration. On top of that with the collapsing D I bet what's going to happen is guys will just drive and kick to the 3pt shooter all year long.

i am glad Lock on Defense is gone. now it will take skills to play defense rather then holding a button
