    Player Gear/ Accessories

From what I saw in the Draft Combine, it's an improvement from last year but its not in the final stages of the game yet so hopefully it can get better till the release.

There's a couple issues and suggestions I had about player accessories. It might sound like I'm nitpicking but I'm just giving suggestions to make the game as authentic as possible.

Great addition of the ankle brace, undershirt and compression shorts but how about face masks, goggles and even a mouthpiece. I remember 2K for Dreamcast players were able to use a mouthpiece. Alot of players uses mouthpiece in the league why don't we bring them back this year.

FACE MASK- Instead of creating a player's faces that has a face mask in them already like Richard Hamiltion last year they should just have it as an accessory. So people could just add or remove it for those players that wore them like Courtney Lee towards the end of the season.

GOGGLES- New school goggles, modern version of the old-school goggles players use to wear back in the day such as James Worthy and Horace Grant. Bo Outlaw wore them on occasion when he was in the league. And Amare Stoudamire has been spotted wearing them as of late.

DOUBLE WRISTBAND- We should able be to choose a different color for each rubberband instead of having just one color for both wristbands.

ARM SLEEVE- We now have long and short arm sleeves. But maybe we can shortened the sleeves in the wrist area so if we add a wristband in the same arm with the sleeve we would be able to see it. Last year if you wear a wristband with an arm sleeve, the sleeve completely covers the wristband.

FINGER STRAP- Looks very thin in the game, kinda like a ring even. Should be a little thicker. They should have it the way they had it in 2K for Dreamcast. The finger straps looked really good in that game plus a given few had numbers in them like Iverson.

In the game there are 2 finger straps in one hand. The middle and ring finger. Usually when a player wears a finger strap it's just in one finger, either the middle or ring finger but not both.

Leg Sleeves- We now have full leg sleeve (leggings), calf sleeve and half calf sleeve but there seems to a be a glitch with the leg sleeves. First you can't wear calf sleeves on both legs, only on the left for some reason. When one wears it on the right leg it shows as a full leg sleeve even though its calf sleeve. They need to fix this.

CALF SLEEVE- 2K should ditch these long calf sleeves. It's too long and covers the socks. They should have a gap of skin between the calf sleeve and socks. They should make it shorter, make the half calf sleeves the calf sleeves and the half calf sleeves shorter.

Heres a pic of Carmello Anthony in Live 10. It should look something similar to that.

And heres one with medium socks with a calf sleeve. The sleeve shouldn't cover the socks but under it.

HALF CALF SLEEVE- In the game when you wear a half calf sleeve your socks disappears. They should have a gap of skin between the calf sleeve and socks. 2K should replace long calf sleeves with these and make half calf sleeves shorter.

Leg Sleeves should be in its own category not a knee accessory. Therefore you can wear a knee pad with a calf sleeve. Or have a knee strap with a half calf sleeve to make it look like Michael Jordan's calf sleeve.

LEG BAND- Not in the game but should be added. It's like an arm band for the leg.

SOCKS- We should be able to change sock colors other than black and white.

High socks completely covers the knee like a leg sleeve. Maybe we should have 2 types of high socks, one that covers the knees and one that ends right below the knees. Call it a high and double high socks.

Last but not least, color coordination for accessories. In 2K9 headbands were set to a specific color for home and away games maybe we should expand the color customization and be able to color coordinate each accessory (head band, arm band, calf sleeve, etc...) to any specific color for home and away games.

Half calf sleeves with socks, that's the way it should have been. Hope it will be fixed on 2K10.

Yea I noticed the calf sleeve glitch thing too in the combine, hopefully it will be fixed once 2K10 drop. The facemask should have been in the game by now for an option hopefully they can add that in, I doubt it though.

Are r they ever gonna have sweat bands on player's elbow ala MJ, Kobe,KG instead they only have it for the forearm\

Also the double baller bands should have two colors instead of 1 single color

Face mask should definitely already be an option the way goggles use to be(why were goggles removed in the first place?). Would be amazing if in association and season if a player breaks his nose he has to wear the mask for a certain amount of time.

Great post BuЯNa. 2K has been really slow on the accessory tip and doesn't seem in a hurry to address it. Say what you want about Live, but that game has always had these sort of things (or at least done a better job than 2K) and it adds to the authenticity. Player specific colorways for sneaks, personalized accessories (i.e. Paul Pierce's forearm band has "The Truth" on it). 2K needs to do a better job of getting these things right (along with the actual colors).

I wish there was a forearm band and an elbow band, instead of the large/small forearm band and that HUGE elbow pad.

I echo these sentiments. Burna's post was indeed one of quality with examples and details and all that good stuff. And I agree on your point as well, I've been jealous of Live for years due to their accessory options and retros. These little things can really bring a game together. 2K surely seems to strive when it comes to the little stuff but I agree that a lot of the accessory options and additions are either late or still absent. Burna touched on most of the points that needed to be made so I have just a few additions, and they're mostly in regards to classic teams.

First, I'd appreciate it if there was an option for short shorts. It is tough to play with the 1986 Celtics when Bird, Walton and McHale were all wearing 2009 shorts past their knees. This would further the role that could be played by compression shorts and give us the opportunity to make Kenny Skywalker look as authentic as possible (minus 8 inch flattop and gold chain).

Second, and another one that will come across as complete extra credit because they're not even allowed in the NBA anymore, but if there was an upper arm "classic band" option, that'd be sweet. I'm speaking of the upper arm bands formerly worn by Ben Wallace and Stephen Jackson, amongst others at the start of this millenium and before.

Maybe that's a selfish request because I love recreating prime Ben Wallace, though I wish I could bring back his afro.

And to reiterate, I wonder why goggles ever left the series?? And face-masks would be just dandy, especially if incorporated into Association mode like a poster mentioned earlier. A lot of potential there. In fact, it'd be cool if any accessory were incorporated into Association (knee brace for those coming off knee surgery for example).

And finally, I trust the knee socks will be changed before release. That does not look like something that would be overlooked.

If the other parts of the game are any indication, 2K enjoys adding in the little things things that create an overall feel of authenticity. Let's hope they keep it rolling.
