By now everyone knows that the 1-3-1 zone is the bestdefense in the game because of the spacing in 2K and how fast players can closeout, the one weakness in the 1-3-1 are the corners.
This strategy will get rid of the “wide open shooter cuts to the basket” nonsense that happens to everyone in 2K.
We’ve all heard of off-ball defense, but many don’t knowthat you can play off-ball offense and have the CPU let you make your offensive decisions.
To control an off-ball player, press LB/L1, PLAYER ICON, and RB/R1.
What makes this so effective is the computer will always make smart passes and pass to open players, if the CPU passes it to you, most likely you’re open and you want to shoot it, although don’t force it.
In order for this strategy to be effective the ball handler must have a high offensive awareness.
This is a MyTeam example although this works in online quickmatch as well.
I set my bench as this (I only use off-ball offensive when Ihave my bench in)
PG – LeBron James (99 Offensive Awareness) – Yes, I know I have LeBron at PG.
SG - Dell Curry (High 3 Ball)
SF – Carmelo Anthony (99 Offensive Awareness) – Will take smart shots.
PF – Steve Novak (I always off-ball control Steve Novak) – Control him and just stand in the corner and wait for your PG to pass it to you.
C – Joel Przybilla (Good rebounder)
TIPS
1) If you’re playing MyTeam, I suggest using Scott Brooks for a +5 Offensive Awareness.
2) I recommend you put dimer, floor general and defensive anchor if you have a weak defensive team in such as myself.
This is optional, although you can run plays when doing this, I recommend using Horns Double Drag from the raptors and nets playbook. It’s a high double screen from your PF and C, leaving the SG and SF in the corners.
This will not be extremely effective against man but will be against the 1-3-1.
If you set a play for a post player this will be effective. No, Dwight Howard is not a post player, he always takes a post fadeaway that never goes in.
The CPU always gets perfect releases as well.

(play runs to the end maybe 20% of the time) and the quick post-up doesn't get you into good positions at times
