I don't have it, and I can't afford both current and next gen, unless I buy the PC version but is this game really the best current-gen 2K, or this just people being excited about the game for the first few weeks? I don't see it being better than 2K11.

By all accounts I'm hearing that it's in a class of it's own as far the game play (presentation largely unchanged and the game still has some of the same bugs it's had for years) but I recommend waiting a few weeks for the new car smell to subside and then get people's take on it before you bite the bullet and purchase it. -

Yes it's by far the best in the series so far, 2k11 had more wow factor just because of the jump between what we got in 2k10 but 2k14 is hands down better.
Remember you have to compare it to what has been released not what the perfect game might look like. And dude the PC version is the version to have... unless you're 100% about the online stuff. But since it seems you're going to be buying the next gen version buying the PC version is a no brainer. Save some bucks, enjoy the mods and then hop over to next gen.Comment

From what ive played I do feel it tops 2K11. At no point did I ever think 2K12 or 2K13 were better than 2K11. 2K14 ends this gen on a strong note with their best effort yet.It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.Comment

I'm thinking it's still the "honeymoon phase" (gosh I love that term now!) and people haven't really started paying attention to the real issues that plague the game. I hope I'm wrong, but then again, I'm never wrong...dangit! I want to be wrong!
My biggest concern is the player control. In years past, it became a game of Mortal Kombat where I couldn't just press left and my player would run that way. I had to do "free up" moves by pressing Left + Left + RT or something in order for him to do some fancy animation that freed him up for a jump shot. That really hurt the game for me. If I tried to do it the classic way of just moving my pad, I'd get bumped and held up by my opponent.
Also, canimations really hurt as well since 2K9. I can't appreciate a great looking move and animation if the game just made it happen on it's own because of something I did unintentionally on my controller. Or worse, when I'm trying to do something intentionally and my player does something totally different which results in a turnover or horrible shot. That's been all too common for the past 4 years (not counting 2K14 since I haven't played it).
So, how does it control? Is it responsive? Is it a "Mortal Kombat" basketball game still?Last edited by Boge; 10-02-2013, 04:11 PM.Comment

2K11's Nostalgia holds a special place in all of our hearts.
2K14 might be better from a sim standpoint but 2K11 is special in it's own way.
Biggest Breakout as far as:
Crew Mode
Custom Rosters
Old School Players

It's still 2K8 to me. That one set the bar that 2K11 came close, but not quite. I'm still waiting, 6 years later, waiting for that bar to be surpassed.Comment
