QB-#4 Brett Favre (Sr), (6'2 215, 4.94 40 time)

Key Ratings:
OVR-92, SPD-64, AWR-86, STR-76, THP-97, THA-86

In his junior season, Favre led the Golden Eagles to an upset of Florida State (then ranked sixth in the nation) on September 2, 1989. Favre capped a six-and-a-half-minute drive with the game-winning touchdown pass with 23 seconds remaining

Favre formerly held several Southern Miss football records until most were surpassed by Austin Davis by the end of the 2011 season. Favre had 15 games over his career where he compiled more than 200 passing yards, making him the fourth all–time school leader in that category. Of those 15 games, five were 300-yard games, the most compiled by any of the school's quarterbacks. Additionally

P/K/S-#44 Ray Guy (Sr), (6'4 195)

Key Ratings:
OVR-98, SPD-80, STR-70, AGI-88, AWR-93, KPW-98, KAC-98, CTH-78, PRC-86, MCV-64, ZCV-89, TAK-60, PUR-89

http://goldeneaglefans.homestead.com/guy.html
The first number to be retired in the 78 year history of Southern Miss football was the jersey number #44, last worn by Southern Miss All American Ray Guy.

Guy, who was named All-American after leading the nation in punting in 1972 with a 46.2-yards-a-punt average, became the first Southern Miss player ever accorded the honor and will become the first punter to enter the Hall in South Bend, Ind.

Guy was far more than a punter. Though he never played quarterback at USM, he could throw a football 70 yards and was "on call" if needed. He set a NCAA record (at the time) with a 61-yard field goal against Utah State on a snow-covered field in Logan, Utah in 1972. He also was Southern Mississippi's starting safety and intercepted 18 passes, including a USM record eight as a senior.

HB/DB #41 Glenn "Mr Outside" Davis (Sr, 5'8 170)

Key Ratings:

In the 1920s, Notre Dame’s Four Horsemen captured the imagination of college football fans. A generation later, the sports headlines told of Mr. Inside and Mr. Outside — Blanchard the hard-driving fullback and Davis the speedy halfback.

Blanchard and Davis were also known as the Touchdown Twins, Blanchard scoring 38 touchdowns in three seasons (1944 to ’46) and Davis 59 in four seasons (1943 to ’46). Time and Life magazines pictured them together on their covers.

Davis finished his career with a school-record 59 touchdowns, 354 points and 5,161 all-purpose yards. In all, he earned 10 varsity letters while at West Point, including four in football, three in baseball, two in track and field and one in basketball. Davis was inducted into the National Football Foundation College Hall of Fame in 1961.

Blanchard’s best season was 1945, when he became the first junior to win the Heisman, awarded to the nation’s best college football player, and the first football player to win the Sullivan Award as the country’s top amateur athlete. He averaged 7.1 yards a carry, running for 718 yards, and scored 19 touchdowns as the Cadets went 9-0.

Blanchard also punted and kicked off, and played linebacker on defense. In the off-season, he was an outstanding shot-putter and sprinter.

http://tightwad-hill.blogspot.com/20...ck-muncie.html
Muncie set six school rushing records, including most touchdowns and most yards gained in a single season. He was instrumental in Cal***8217;s NCAA-leading offense which propelled the team to the co-championship of the Pac-8 in 1975, and he appeared for the first time on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Muncie was a strong candidate for the Heisman Trophy and finished second in the voting in 1975 behind Archie Griffin of Ohio State.

Sean Dawkins

On Cal's current career charts, he still ranks first in touchdown receptions (31), sixth in receiving yards (2,124), eighth in scoring (186 points) and ninth in receptions (129).

Ron Rivera
In 1983 he set a record that still stands with 26.5 tackles for loss including 13 sacks. For his efforts Rivera was named co-Defensive Player of the Year in the Pac 10 and was a consensus choice for All-America at linebacker. He was also the first Golden Bear to become a finalist for the Lombardi Award.

Nick Harris
averaged 42.3 yards per punt, and his 13,621 total yards was an NCAA record. His 322 career punts is also an NCAA record.
