Can somebody PLEASE explain the minor league and scouting system?!

    Guys--

I'm new to the game, and not an expert in the sport, so a lot of what is probably intuitive to you about the minor leagues/scouting is completely foreign to me. How does this scouting work, and how do we get guys to develop? (They all seem to be in the 40s and 50.) I don't understand what I'm supposed to be doing with them to develop them, call them up, trade underperforming ones, etc; and Sega's traditionally HORRIBLE, COUNTERINTUITIVE user interface has made a bad situation even worse. Any hints or links on the subject? Has anyone read the full manual on the disc? If it's spelled out in there (or anywhere else), I'd really appreciate the help. I'm a Franchise FREAK, and it is killing me not to be using every part of this seemingly cool game. Thx

I believe there's more info in the in-game manual.

What the scouting does before the draft is get you more of the players attributes as well as tell you their strengths and weaknesses.

Besides the player themselves the coaches your hire before you start your franchise plays a big part in how those players develop. Look at the coaches ratings.

I assume moving your high draft picks into the top 2 lines, or top D pairing will probably help them since they would get more ice time in the minors.
