After playing ASB 2004 on the gamecube with classic cursor hitting, I realized that I wasn't seeing any ground ball singles ... (the basic grounders up the middle and between the infielders).
I had plays where I didn't make solid contact and rolled one back to an infielder, but nearly all well hit balls seemed to be either line drives, home runs or deep flies. As I kept playing, it turned out the cpu wasn't hitting many grounders either. In fact, between the cpu and me, I was barely seeing any hard hit grounders at all. And especially not any hard hit grounders for singles.
I thought that the issue was probably due to hitting with classic cursor. Being that the game is built with a tilt cursor in mind, maybe you are supposed to angle your cursor toward the ground to see the types of hits I'm looking for. But if that is the case, it doesn't appear that the cpu uses the tilt cursor like that.
I went back to some older ASB games, the real old ones on N64. The first game on the 64 didn't have the tilt hitting, yet playing this game I saw a complete lack of grounders for hits as well. ASB 2000 and ASB 2001 also played like this, but they have the tilt cursor.
What I'm wondering is if this has been an issue with the series from the beginning? And was their way of addressing it adding a tilting cursor?
