FORMULA ONE 2015 | ROUND 1:

Australian GP 2015.jpg

2015 ROLEX AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX

The 2015 Australian Grand Prix, formally titled the 2015 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix, was a Formula One motor race that was held on 15 March 2015 in Melbourne. The race was contested over fifteen laps of the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit and was the first round of the 2015 FIA Formula One World Championship. The race marked the 80th race in the combined history of the Australian Grand Prix—which dates back to the 100 Miles Road Race of 1928—and the twentieth time the event was held at the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit.

Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg was the defending race winner. Third place in the 2014 Drivers' Championship Daniel Dunstan-Hart started the race from pole. Dunstan-Hart led home Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg to win the race, with the two Mercedes drivers holding each other up enough for Dunstan-Hart to get away with the win. Sebastian Vettel would finish fourth, in his first start for his new team Ferrari.

The race weekend was not crash heavy as the closest calls came with contact between Dunstan-Hart and Daniel Ricciardo in Practice before Dunstan-Hart would also collide with Kimi Raikkonen in the first qualifying session. Daniil Kvyat would get the drive of the day after his points saving effort coming from 19th on the grid to finish 10th as Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen would both have to two stop after a small collision with Valtteri Bottas, who would also have to pit twice. The only DNF for the race would be Sauber's Felipe Nasr with an engine failure. Kevin Magnussen would also replace Fernando Alonso in the season opener due to Alonso's pre-season testing crash.

Malaysia GP 2015.jpg

2015 PETRONAS MALAYSIA GRAND PRIX

The 2015 Malaysian Grand Prix, formally titled the 2015 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix, was a Formula One motor race that was held on 29 March 2015 at the Sepang International Circuit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was the seventeenth running of the Malaysian Grand Prix as a World Championship event.

Daniel Dunstan-Hart came into the race leading the Drivers' championship by seven points over reigning World Champion Lewis, followed closely by his teammate Nico Rosberg, a further three points adrift. Mercedes entered with a two-point lead over Williams in the Constructors' championship campaign.

Hamilton would secure pole position in a very up and down qualifying which saw the likes of Daniil Kvyat missing Q2 again and the Toro Rosso's missing the top 10, with a McLaren making it to Q3 as well as off and on rain. Rosberg won the race, having started from second place on the grid.

The weekend would start off with an absolute domination in practice by Lewis Hamilton beating everyone by more than one second, with his closest challenger being Valtteri Bottas, and majority of the field were 2+ seconds behind. Qualifying would be a challenge between the three main title contenders in Hamilton, Rosberg and Dunstan-Hart, as Hamilton would get pole position. Rosberg's first race win of the season was overshadowed by the most controversial event of the season to date as on the final corner of the track on Lap 3 Hamilton would crash into leader Dunstan-Hart spinning both out, wrecking Dunstan-Hart's front wing and resulting in Hamilton getting a puncture with both drivers to far forward to get to the pit lane. The crash would cause both drivers to be at the very end of the field as Hamilton would eventually retire from an engine failure as did Nico Hulkenberg who failed hallf way down the main straight. Kvyat would once again disappoint having to pit twice in his Red Bull and Max Verstappen's Toro Rosso would be slow once again. Dunstan-Hart would finish eighth and Carlos Sainz would earn his first F1 points beating out fellow Spainiard Fernando Alonso in his first race in the McLaren. Romain Grosjean would get driver of the day due to his great performance avoiding crashes and coming from 13th on the grid to finish 7th.

FORMULA ONE 2015 | ROUND 3:

Chinese GP 2015.png

2015 CHINESE GRAND PRIX

The 2015 Chinese Grand Prix (formally known as the 2015 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix) was a Formula One motor race that was held on 12 April 2015 at the Shanghai International Circuit in Shanghai, China. The race was the third round of the 2015 season, and marked the twelfth time that the Chinese Grand Prix has been run as a round of the Formula One World Championship.

Lewis Hamilton was the defending race winner as teammate Nico Rosberg would go into the race with a ten point lead in the world championship over Sebastian Vettel. Hamilton took pole position during Saturday's qualifying, and would go on to win the race from Kimi Raikkonen and rival Daniel Dunstan-Hart.

Controversy looked to follow the previous race as it first started during Practice, where many of the top drivers would have poor times, but it was because of the timing of some of the drivers to get out on to the track with soft tyres on with the sun out after a rain filled session. Qualfying would see the continued terrible pace of Daniil Kvyat missing every single Q2 so far for the season, as well as a terrible Q2 drive for Valtteri Bottas and Daniel Ricciardo in cars that were expected to challenge for the podium at the start of the season. Q3 would see an absolute domination by Lewis Hamilton who would get pole, as well as great drives for both Toro Rosso drivers Qualifying 8th and 9th, and a great consistent run by Sergio Perez to qualify 6th. In the race, Dunstan-Hart, Hamilton and Raikkonen would get off to great starts as going into turn one Dunstan-Hart and Hamilton would drive each other off of the road, touching wheels before swearing in the team radios, with more news reports created after Dunstan-Hart's offer to join Mercedes at the end of the season if he beat one of the drivers in the World Championship. Raikkonen would get the edge on Dunstan-Hart at turn four and due to terrible tyre wear using his Q3 tyres that he tried so hard to get pole with, Dunstan-Hart had to concede the position. The race was then split up into two vital challenges, with first between Hamilton and Raikkonen, and third between Dunstan-Hart, Rosberg and Vettel. Dunstan-Hart picked up pace again to hold off both challengers for 3rd as Hamilton eventually took off on Raikkonen, winning the race by 10 seconds. Valtteri Bottas and Daniel Ricciardo would redeem their terrible Qualifying drives to finish 6th and 7th respectively as Daniil Kvyat would finish 10th once again, as Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz collided with Sergio Perez which caused him to pit an extra time and would make Sainz lose time, as his teammate Max Verstappen would get his first points of his career. To keep up with the norm Marcus Ericsson's engine would fail near the end of the race down the long straight, being the only DNF of the race.

FORMULA ONE 2015 | ROUND 4:

Bahrain GP 2015.jpg

2015 BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX

The 2015 Bahrain Grand Prix (formally known as the 2015 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix) was a Formula One motor race that was held on 19 April 2015 at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, Bahrain. The race was the fourth round of the 2015 season and marked the eleventh time that the Bahrain Grand Prix has been run as a round of the Formula One World Championship.

Daniel Dunstan-Hart, who was the defending race winner, came into the race with a six-point to deficit to championship leader Nico Rosberg. Lewsi Hamilton would claim Pole Position on Saturday, his third for the season. In the race, Dunstan-Hart managed to win from Hamilton and Rosberg, taking his 10th race victory.

At the beginning of the weekend, it looked like Mercedes would have a harder time than usual, with Ferrari and Williams looking to be the two teams to beat after Sebastian Vettel and Valtteri Bottas would dominate practice. Qualifying would be a different story after Vettel, who was favourite to win the race at the start of the weekend would crash during one of his flying laps and ended up missing Q2, along with Daniil Kvyat who once again failed to pick up a competitve time in his Red Bull. Jenson Button would also join the pair in missing Q2 with the McLaren-Honda's problems just starting for the weekend. Daniel Ricciardo would be the only big name to not make it in Q2, just being knocked out by Carlos Sainz's Toro Rosso, with it being the second race in a row that both Toro Rosso's would make Q3, and no Red Bull's would join them. In Q3, Hamilton would clinch pole by one tenth to teammate ROsberg, who would hit back at critics who said they wouldn't have a good weekend. The race was clean until controversy would arise between Dunstan-Hart and Hamilton once again, as after the two Williams' would take 1-2 in the first few laps, Hamilton would dive bomb the pair on the third lap towards the first corner, spinning Bottas and hitting Dunstan-Hart causing a hold up in traffic, which would help Vettel catch up and the two Mercedes' to take off. Although Rosberg looked like he was having a better race the Mercedes team would pit Hamilton at the same time as Dunstan-Hart, thinking that the strategy would get Hamilton the win. Daniil Kvyat would lose some of his front wing after a collision with Pastor Maldonado who had an engine failure, forcing the Russian to pit twice, who would also join Felipe Nasr (collision with Bottas), Bottas, Roberto Merhi and Fernando Alonso (puncture) in having to stop twice. After the first big crash Botas was involved in, he would also be racing against Roberto Merhi who was a lap behind before Merhi knocked him off the track which caused the Williams of Bottas to take out Romain Grosjean and Carlos Sainz before a big collision with Felipe Nasr, as all five of the men involved in the lap 12 crash would fail to score points. Dunstan-Hart would take victory by less than a second after holding off the faster Hamilton for the second half of the race as Marcus Ericsson scored his first points for the season, and Sebastian Vettel would have a terrific drive to finish 5th, after a terrible Qualifying, getting Driver of the Day.

2015 GP2 SERIES | ROUND 1:

Bahrain GP2 R1 2015.png

2015 BAHRAIN GP2 ROUND

The 2015 Bahrain GP2 Series round was a pair of motor races held on 18 and 19 April 2015 at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, Bahrain as part of the GP2 Series. It was the first round of the 2015 GP2 Series and was run in support of the 2015 Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix. The first race, a 32-lap feature event, was won by ART Grand Prix driver Stoffel Vandoorne who started from the pole position. Rio Haryanto finished second for the Campos Racing team, and Racing Engineering driver Alexander Rossi came third. Haryanto won the second event, a 23-lap sprint race, ahead of Vandoorne in second, and Lazarus driver Nathanaël Berthon in third.

Vandoorne retained his pole position advantage in the first race, which was disrupted on the fourth lap following a collision between Norman Nato, Arthur Pic, Pierre Gasly and Raffaele Marciello. Drivers on the soft-compound tyres made pit stops for medium-compound tyres, while Vandoorne remained the leader for the lap-nine restart. He held it until his pit stop at the end of lap 22, and Rossi moved into the first position on the following lap. He kept the position until Vandoorne overtook him to win the race. Julián Leal started first in the second race and remained the leader until he was passed at the beginning of the eighth lap by Haryanto, who maintained the lead for the rest of the race to clinch the win.

Haryanto's victory in the second race was his first victory in the GP2 Series after 70 races. The results of the races meant Vandoorne assumed the lead in the Drivers' Championship with 43 points, ten in front of Haryanto. Rossi assumed third position, while Berthon's third-place finish in the second event allowed put him in fourth. Jordan King rounded out the top five. ART Grand Prix became the leaders of the Teams' Championship with a 15-point advantage over Racing Engineering. Campos Racing were two points behind in third position, while Lazarus and Rapax rounded out the top five, with ten rounds left in the season.
