Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
Best list yet.

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
I like how Josh Hamilton is almost as good as Albert Pujols...interesting... And how Carl Crawford, the best 5 tool player in the game is 9th overall. Good ratings.

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
I know i'm a Homie, but really?? Jason Bay ranked ahead of Matt Holliday. Bay hits for more power, but Holliday hits for a higher average, runs better, plays better defense, and has a better arm. Bay is actually ranked ahead of Holliday in defense by 4 points, I think that is a little off.

Looks good to me.. thanks for the post

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
I'll go through that one by one:
Braun: looks ok Hamilton: vastly overrated He increases from being rated 79/67/79/58 in the last roster update to 85/72/91/80 what did he do last year to deserve it? I know he was injured, but why not keep it the way it was last year? His 2008 btw. was very good but he can thank Rangers ballpark for that. I know he is a popular player and a feel good story, but no way he should be ranked ahead of Holliday. Manny, Bay look alright. Holliday seems a bit weak against LHP, but there was a dropdown against left handers last year so I think it's OK. Before somebody says that Coors Field inflated Holliday's numbers more than Hamilton's. Look at their OPS+. Holliday has been better than Hamilton EVERY SINGLE YEAR. |
Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
wow. quite the impressive list....NOT! Carl Crawford number 9 !? Really? Here is a guy who is top 3 fastest players in mlb. Other than Franklin Gutierrez, he is probably the best defensive outfielder in baseball when you factor in how many runs he saves his team with his range. Also here is a guy who is a career .295 hitter and batted .305 last year, and averages about 14 homeruns a season. Also, he is only 28 and in the prime of his career. And Juan Rivera among others is ranked ahead of him?!? Am i missing something here? These ratings really make me laugh.

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
ahh man @ Matt Holliday fielding rating a 59, dude make one mistake in the playoffs where the ball hits him where the sun don't shine..and his rating gets dropped. I thought he was a good fielder.

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
Cant see crawford being 9th and cant see manny being so high, the guy throws like a girl and is so one dimensional. Add that to the 50 game suspension and steadly decling numbers when he came back I just dont see it.
|
Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
Most accurate ratings so far.
|
Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
Braun's batting stance looks off which is weird because it was pretty much perfect in last years game. A pretty good list though
|
Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
WHAT! No Alfonso Soriano?!?!? I am sooooooo being sarcastic it hurts. I'm not sure I buy Josh Hamilton being ranked that high. It also pains me, as a cubs fan, to see Braun ranked so high.
|
Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
Pretty fair I'd say. Josh Hamilton was hurt most of last year, and when he came back he was still not doing well. I guess that's what happens when you crash into outfield walls at high speeds. As I've said before, the Ballpark helps because, duh, you play half your games in it.

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
I have a question and was wondering if someone can answer this. Ryan Braun is ranked number one and i was looking at his attributes and it says he bats right and his right contact and power are 75 , 73 now here's the thing that is boggling my mind. For a guy that isn't a switch hitter how is it that his lefty batting stats are 90 for contact and 95 for power. Now since he's only a right handed hitter shouldn't those stats be at zero?

Solid list overall, but Crawford is too low and Hamilton and Juan Rivera are too high.

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
Juan Rivera is better than Carl Crawford? Really? No really? Guy is a walking injury. This just shows how badly baseball games value defense and speed. Its a joke
|
Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
It actually makes sense not weight in defense too much for the LF overall rating.
LF is an offensive position. There and at 1B you hide your weakest defensive players. You can see at the SS list that defense is weighted in there much more. |
Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
Defense is important at every position. Doesn't matter where it is. If you can prevent runs you win. The list is a joke.

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
Carl Crawford has got to get more love.
|
Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
Jason Bay is over rated. Carl Crawford is an absolute beast (we see him 19 times a year).
Other than that I think they give too much love to power hitters. Manny is by far the worst fielder in that whole screen shot! He is a future Hall of Famer and is an amazing hitter, but Carl Crawford's 5 tool ability should outway some of the power other players have. |

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
even as a dodger fan i dont see manny bein a #3 maybe 5-7 yea . it looks like they tweak his batting stance n cant see if they fix his face but i like the ratings
|
Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
Hollidays power vs Lefties is right on, he just doesn't hit for power against them.

LF and RF are different though. Generally you want a strong arm in RF in order to throw to 3B, cutting down runners trying to go from first to third. A lot of parks have big left fields so it makes sense sometimes to have a speedy guy in LF. For sure though you want to have a solid bat with power in your corner outfield spots. I guess it depends on your ball park which corner outfield spot you can afford to sacrifice defense. |
Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
FINALLY! A BREWER! And he's on the top of the list!

The only ones i've seen were 3B, SS, and 2B, and all of them had not one single Brewer on them. And with good reason. |
Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
NEVER understood the issues with ratings...Especially in THE SHOW. You cant EDIT EVERYTHING at any time. Easy as pie fix if you ask me.
Think so and so is over/under rated? Fix em yourself. With the level of control WE have...There is LITERALLY no reason to complain. Now give me this game already.....3/2 cannot come fast enough. Cant wait to be "sick" Tuesday. |

REALLY? Should they be that close? REALLY? Josh Hamilton has 1 season with over 19 home runs Albert Pujols has 9 seasons with over 32 home runs, and 5 over 40. Am I missing something here? |

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
Is this with Carlos Quentin as a right fielder? I hope so. Carl Crawford needs to be 3-4 spots higher, and Hamilton is WAYY overrated.
|
Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Left Fielders
Crawford should be first for sure... And Manny shouldn't even be in top 5... Although that high five-throwout at second was pretty f'n cool, and hilarious but outrageously ruhtarded(the hangover). Sorry for the bad grammer, on the iPod touchy.
