Hmm. When I want to play as the coach I'll play Head Coach, and when I want to GM I'll play FOF. So it really depends on what experience you are looking for. Head Coach is a really great and challenging game. The AI logic is good and it will keep you interested.

HC for sure. FOF having no playcalling basis in football logic just irks me and keeps things from being fun.

HC for sure. I'll fart around on FOF every now and then, but something about the layout of the game makes it feel like a tedious spreadsheet management sim, not a football management sim.

I have both, but I enjoy HC more. The biggest issue I have with FOF8 is there is so little effort by the programmer to immerse the player in the universe. In OOTP you get news stories and plenty of interaction with other GMs. It makes the game feel more "alive." With FOF8 it's just rosters and stats pages, and it looks like a DOS game from 1992.
