Re: Brewers to erect Seven Foot tall Statue of Bud Selig outside Miller Park

Just to clarify a bit Selig didn't just keep baseball in Milwaukee he LITERALLY brought baseball back to the city. He bought the soon to be folded Seattle Pilots and moved them to Milwaukee and kept baseball in that city for a long time. As much of a joke and a man held up for ridicule as he is today he actually did some good things as owner. Few remember that the Brewers were a very good organization through most of the '80s and early '90s. It was only when the money got so out of hand that the franchise went down the drain.

So while I may not be a fan of the statue because he's commish one still has to give him props for being a good owner for most of his tenure.

Good point, and that is exactly what the statue is for.

LOL, what would you expect from someone with a name like poopydude Nah, I'm just messing around. Saw the post on OS reattime and thought it was funny.

As for the statue, I don't really have an opinion one way or the other. As SPTD said, it is a tribute to what Selig did as owner of the franchise and not what he has done as MLB commissioner.

Is it just me, or are there a lot of statues around Miller Park? Aaron, Yount, the guys that died while building the stadium, and now Selig. It gets less special the more you do it. That said, he does deserve something. Definitely.

Next should be Pauly Molitor, but I understand why Yount went ahead of Molitor.

I understand the hate for Selig the Commish, but don't understand the hate for Selig the owner that brought Milwaukee back to baseball and kept in a small market.
