Idk...anything he may help do in framing is completely washed out by his fielding, blocking and arm.

His pitch framing is fantastic...he steals SO many pitches for our pitchers. Watch his technique...he's the only catcher I've ever seen do this, but he doesn't set a target. He starts with the glove in the dirt and moves the glove up to the pitch. In this way, it never looks like the pitcher has "missed" his target.

I agree, however, on his other defensive skills. Definitely below average, but I'll take his bat plus his pitch framing. It's been nice to have something at catcher after 3 years of Gattis/Betancourt/Pierzysnki.

Brett Gardner shouldn't have this much power lol. His power numbers have blown me away this year.

Newcomb has such fantastic stuff, but his command is maddening. If he ever harnesses it, watch out.
