Re: PES 2017 Teach Me How/Strategy thread:

Hold LB when dribbling. Manual has no mention of this but it seems to help you keep possession when dribbling.

You still have to be smart and keep the ball away from the AI but it seems to tone them down from barging into you and nipping the ball away

Tip 2. Play LB Triangle/Y passes all over the place, little lobs, medium lobs, full lobs, have at it.

Tip 3. Double tap cross button for a sharp ground cross

Tip 4. If the cpu gives you space dribble into it, this creates all sorts of new passing angles

Re: PES 2017 Teach Me How/Strategy thread:

One PES absolute, the X/A button is the god button, what I mean by that is anytime there is a 50/50 or you think hope is lost or confusion reigns just tap X/A. If the CPU seems to have a step on you as you are both about to collide for a 50/50 ball just tap X/A, maybe once, maybe 5 times quick. X/A is the win ball button

On offense If you are trying to take it up the left side and having no success turn around and pass it back to the LM or LB and cycle it all the way to the keeper and then come up the right side.

Anywhere near midline look up or down and see if you can swap fields safely with the cross button

This is deadly but hard to pull off, I found it in the 1-2 pass skill game. If you can LB pass to a point man and hit triangle/Y with him and pass it right back you can get some cracking 1 time shots off.

If you have teammate controls assisted hold LB and push RS to who you want to make a run, then let go of R stick and they will run straight ahead

If you have teammate controls on manual hold LB and push RS to who you want to make a run, release RS but still hold LB and then flick RS which way you want them to run.

I would love if just double tapping LB made the player you were facing do a "smart" run into space.

This is how I have my controls
Custom
RT sprint
LT special
LB lob/pass modifier
circle/B shoot/call support
square/X cross/slide tackle
X/A contain
RB manual override

Defense
Just in case people don't know

Double tap X/A to tackle

Secondary pressure is B (with my controls)
and to get 2 or more to pressure double tap B and hold it

Hold LT to Jockey

Super Cancel is LT+RT breaks your player out of whatever he was doing into your full control

Yes, would be nice. Or if they would just do it on their own more often. Too often I'll wait for/expect an AI teammate to move into space, especially when it's the obvious move on higher attacking levels, and they will either stand still or tuck in behind a defender. And the R stick flick often will send the wrong person on a run if teammates are even somewhat close to each other. It's a double-edged sword tho, cuz I don't want it to be too easy to attack in numbers.

Re: PES 2017 Teach Me How/Strategy thread:

If anyone needs an intro or refresher on the controls, I highly recommend the online manual. Even if you know the basic commands by heart, there are lots of useful tidbits in there. For instance, a dribble speed burst while facing an opponent can result in a nutmeg!

Also, as I suspected, advanced shooting allows the user to pick a corner and power. This means aiming away from goal to shoot low, which explains why all my shots were going high (manual habits). Curious to hear what others feel are the pros/cons of basic/advanced/manual (and for through balls as well).

I am in free training right now and I swear if you click down the left stick then aim the ball stays on frame much better.

L3. Click stick in, keep it clicked in, then aim where you wish.
