Is (Insert Player Here) A Hall of Famer?

Let's play a fun game I have come up with, where we will debate and get the opinion of the forums. Read the rules before posting

RULES
  1. Every 3 days or so (May be longer or shorter depending on the closeness of the vote) I will post the name of a player either currently playing or recently retired.
  2. Make a post stating and explaining your views on this player
  3. Have fun and debate people who you don't agree with
  4. At the end of the poll, I will tally up the votes and put the results below in the spoiler

Current Player: Brian Urlacher

Past Results Yes-No
Spoiler

Re: Is (Insert Player Here) A Hall of Famer?

Good thread, I like it.

I'll start...

I do not think Steven Jackson is a Hall of Famer. He's a good player and has been a top 10 back for most of his career, but never in any year did I consider him to be THE best RB in the league, and really not even top 3. He hasn't had any outstanding statistical year, no type of record breaking year, etc. Furthermore, I think it hurts his case that the Rams have only made the Playoffs I think one time(in '04 I believe) since he's been with him.

Thanks, I just hope it generates enough interest to be a viable recurring thread.

I guess Steven Jackson sort of sounds like Donald Driver?

Interested to see how this goes but it definitely won't work if you completely ignore the point.

Next player you do should be Ray Lewis, but the answer is obvious.

I do not consider Steven Jackson a HOF. He just has not been a total standout in his career. He is in the Hall of Very Good with guys like McNabb.

Since I posted I should answer the question...

I think he has HOF talent but it takes a lot for a RB's talent to vault a team to the success needed to make them a HOFer without help. So unfortunately, I don't think he belongs.

I quoted you bc I don't even think he is as close as McNabb and his 4 NFCC appearances and 1 SB appearance.
