Vegas should select Comeau, Beauchemin, Soderberg, and Colborne for that veteran leadership. Every team needs that veteran leadership, especially a new one.

But especially Helm. What a truly horrible contract.
Truly terrible. But everything obviously pales in comparison to Johan Franzen's 11-year $43.5-Million dollar abortion of a contract. What a colossal mistake.

In some ways, the expansion draft is good for teams like Detroit, in that it gives us a chance to try to sucker someone into taking bad contracts off our hands. It's not likely (since I assume they're not stupid over in Sin City), but any chance to try to dump some bad mistakes is never a bad thing.

Also, while Kenny Holland has nothing but good will for all time in the Motor City, all great love affairs eventually end....is it time for the Wings to go in another direction at GM?

Let's not forget who the Vegas GM is.
Erat for Forsberg is one of the worst deals ever. So maybe we'll get lucky, lol.

Completely agree about needing to end the Holland era.
His legacy looked really good with Lidstrom.
He's been really bad since.
So many bad contracts.

What stinks is watching Nill and Yzerman walk. Would have been pretty sweet having Yzerman running this ship.

Re: NHL 2017 Off-Season Thread

If Ovechkin gets dealt though, Caps better be getting alot in return. Start with #1 overall pick and work their way from there. Though what #1 overall team would need Ovechkin?

Question:
If you're Vegas do you trade your 1st for Ovie?

#6 pick in a weak draft? In a heartbeat.

Makes zero sense for Ovi or the Caps, however.

If Caps offer it then obviously ya, but no way Ovechkin goes there.

Craziest I'd put it is Kovy coming back to Devils and then they deal the 1st in a package for Ovechkin. Even then, doubt it'd even be a discussion from anyone even in media.
