Best NASCAR console games

I got Nascar 09, pretty decent and I'll get Inside Line once I see a cheap copy of it here in Canada.

I didn't know that the PS3 could play PS1 games. I'd love to try some out and start with Nascar. Out of curiosity, which PS1 one would you recommend (in terms of the car handling well I guess)? Excluding Nascar Thunder 2003, that one I'm guessing is the best but I have a Gamecube and can just pickup that one for GC sometime.

The one I played the most was 2000, can't say if it's the best or not but I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Another one that's not on that list is NASCAR Rumble. It's a straight-up arcade racer and not at all sim, but it's a lot of fun with tons of unlocks.

I'm a sim guy, but Rumble was so much damn fun. LOVED that game. Thanks for the memories!

Wait....PS3's can play PS1 games??? Is this any and all PS3 models?

Yes. Only certain PS3 models have PS2 backwards compatibility (in fact only one I think), but all models can play PS1 games.

How come I never knew this?? I knew the original PS3's had backwards compatibility because I owned one but I had to upgrade after it died. This is an amazing discovery haha

You want arcade play Nascar 98. There was a cheat in that game, believe it was hitting R1&2 and L1&2 at the same time on the in race standings screen. Anyway you could shoot liitle colorful projectiles out of the front of your car by using triangle, which would cause your opponents to wreck if it hit them. The 12 year old me loved that.

I loved that mode! This was my first PS1 game actually. All time favorite for me, plus Earnhardt on the cover
