Re: MLB '10: The Show Gameplay Video (1up)

Okay, great video! This game's presentation is just so much tighter that it really makes everything flow much better. I even saw the sports ticker there for a second!

Now instead of continuing off the same path noting every great thing I saw (I'm sure they have been and will be covered by others in this thread), I do have a question for Russell and then an observation for you all:

Russell - In the gameplay video released yesterday, I made the observation that Dave and Rex weren't talking much... now I think I know why. It seems that RTP messes with their cues for when they're supposed to talk. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but it looks like the way RTP works is it will stream everything until the end of a "play" (meaning before the next batter steps up or before we see a replay). That said, we are still in the "play-by-play" stream at this point. There is no place where Hudler or Campbell are cued to chime in as opposed to past iterations, where the cut-scene would be loaded into the game, giving them room to talk about the play or what have you. I think that's now three or four plays where I took note of that, so I think that's what's going on here.

My question is, since this video is probably very old, was this addressed at any point? Was there a way you guys got the coding rearranged so that they can make a comment after a play in RTP without "loading" them in like the game would if it wasn't running in RTP? Basically, will we ever be able to hear them after a play if there isn't a replay?

Thanks.

Then my second observation, and this was about the ground friction thing (which I think is actually pretty good), but if you notice around the 5:00 mark there's a line drive foul ball that skips on the ground, ricochets off the wall, and soars into right field. There was an old Yankee video that showed somewhat of the same effect, only this one is a little more exaggerated looking. I'm not speaking anything about the game, but in that video before you guys said that you see that stuff in real life all the time. I see that effect in real life, but not to that extreme. So I just wanted to ask again, if you watch this video... do you see that kind of foul ball in real life in the way that it rebounds off the wall? I just wanted to know.
