Ok so the gold, silver and bronze players are the cause if the lower team ratings. I went in and added some gold players and yes, in fact it does change the team ratings.
I went in and added some golds to the Ravens D to gold and sure enough, they went from a 49 rated D to a 89 rated D. I'm not sure it effects gameplay but, I haven't gotten this part. I'll check on that later.
