If you're referring to the orchestrated music, it was in last year's game; you just had to turn it on (R3 on PS4, I believe)

No my friend ! Sam Spence NFL music was only in 11 and 10. I am praying we will see it again . Madden 18 soundtrack is decent, but that NFL films puts madden in a new dimension.

Haven't been able to play yet as I'm on vacation and don't get home until Sunday. But from the videos I've seen, the biggest improvement I've seen is the graphics and quality of the cut scenes between plays. The smoothness and look of them is where frostbite is really shown off imo. Hoping to dive in deep on Sunday and give some real impressions then.

Anybody having trouble with the day lighting when playing in game. I feel as though the brightness is just way too low and there’s no highlights in the picture, but in cutscenes and stuff it’s completely fine. Can’t tell if it’s my monitor or I’m just over exaggerating

shaded lighting looks too dark to me yes


Edit... btw really happy with the game this year. It's a blast to play and beautiful for the most part.

Anyone else having trouble tackling? I've been playing on default sim All Madden with the Niners and have had a terrible time trying to tackle this year. Anyone else seeing this or is this ratings related due to the Niners being a terrible defense last year.

Also, I'm seeing a lot of the deep safety remaining in backpedal and not engaging receivers coming across their zone. This is terrible when running a single high safety in Cover 3 or Cover 1 (the basis of the Niners defense this year). Anyone else seeing higher rated safeties not making plays on the ball in the passing game, or again, is this ratings related?

Just curious to see what you guys have experienced. I'm a very capable veteran madden player who has typically had top 3 defenses in my cfm's, but maybe I just have more of a learning curve this year?

Played the Bills and lost 26-12. It was a decent game with some frustrating stuff. Tyrod Taylor was 20-24 for 406 yards and nearly half of it was on three plays where they ran verticals, he stood in the pocket for like 7 seconds and then hit somebody running back towards the LOS for an easy completion. The CPU just absolutely does not miss on default All-Madden. Taylor only really moved twice and both times he had a ton of room to run but opted to throw as soon as he got to the LOS. Pass Defense just seems like a never ending battle of rushing four and letting the QB stand around for 7 seconds and sometimes no get coverage or rushing more and having no coverage but occasionally getting pressure and/or a sack.

I stayed dedicated to the running game but Marcel Dareus was absolutely insane. He had 16 tackles alone and him and Kyle Williams finished with 22 tackles and 7 TFL combined. I got hit for 15 TFL in the game and only had 56 yards on 30 carries.

I gave up two TD passes and both were a little annoying. Here's the first:

Not as bad, just frustrating to see my best corner get burned by such a far inferior receiver. I know I called press there and Brown on has 65 Beat Press versus 85 Press for Peters but it doesn't really look like a press animation so I don't really know. It is All-Madden though so I'm leaning towards that being the likely cause as ratings don't seem to factor as much that I've noticed, at least on the user side.

Going to move to default All-Pro for a few games and see how it plays out. My guess is that it will be far too easy but if it's decent enough I might keep it going, I never really gave it a shot in 17. If not, I'll just move back to All-Madden and start tweaking.

A little bit but not too much. One thing I've noticed is being hit stick happy is a sure fire way to consistently get faked out. I tried it in my first few games and it resulted in fake outs more often than not and almost seemed like hitting the hit stick triggered them to make a move. I haven't had too many issues though. The CPU gets a lot of fakeouts in general but from my experience pursuit has been really good at getting there and containing it. But I've also been using the Chiefs defense which is pretty good as well.

Actually, they were working in Madden 16, but something happened between 16 and 17. The last I've heard they are looking into it. From my understanding, Rex wasn't taking any questions about CPU QB AI or zone defense questions during his stream a few days ago.

Thanks for the heads up! I really hope that they are actually making an effort to address this issue. But weird that Rex wouldn't address CPU QB AI....I mean....It is such an obvious issue that makes me think there isn't a foreseeable fix for this anytime soon. But if they do, hats off to the Rex & crew!

I just played the Superbowl game while it installs and 4k is legit. I was worried that there would be frame rate issues in the cut scenes(ala MLB The Show) but iv'e had no issues. It looks alot better than the EA access version i've been playing the last couple days on an XBOX One S.

There was also an update 1.01 when it installed but not sure what it is.

It's been pretty rough. Man coverage is definitely better than 17 but zones still seem really soft. It's tough to judge because I haven't been able to get a consistent pass rush but it seems a lot like 17 to me where it's not truly terrible but it's almost always just bad enough and the fact that pass rush seems to be nerfed isn't helping things either. I mix it up quite a bit but have been running more man lately just because I've been getting picked apart in zone. Eric Berry is the one player in the secondary that has actually made some plays for me. He's gotten like 5 or 6 picks in the games I've played. I had a pick with Marcus Peters in my first game but he hasn't been a factor since. If I turned down their pass blocking and QB accuracy a bit I'd probably getting much better results.

For the first one, were you usering the safety?
Second - seems like an all madden issue but happens to me on all pro as well (not sure about the match ups but definitely against elite wide outs) Safety help is a must.

I didn't notice that either. I also always lower my madden "threshold" slider to 0 and the speed differential puts the skills and ratings of the players more accurate. Running backs and QB's how they move depends on their ratings for sure. If you have a pocket passer like Ben R. of the steelers and you think you're going to run out of the pocket like a Gazelle in this game, not happening in Madden 18. Every year I feel they get this more intact to the real game. 18 feels great for this too.



Things I wish they would bring back.

- Cheerleaders

- Sam Spence Soundtrack from 11 and 10.

- spice up the stat screens that pop up for the player. I want it more TV style with detailed information.



18 still has stellar commentary. Far as I'm concerned, now the best commentary of any sports franchise out there. Im' glad they kept the 2 guys from last year and they still are saying new things every time I play. I wouldn't mind some truly interactive celebrations where you can pick a unique celebration instantly after scoring. Maybe with any of hte buttons and let loose in the end zone with a dance.



I wish we could hear the coaches on the sideline talking and I would love instances where you can hear them yelling at the ref after a questionable call. But they still do some nice animations in 18 and I see them making some new reactions, but I would like to see more interaction with the coaches.



The graphics overall are nearly perfect now.

+ Player faces. Amazing.

+ Uniforms: Spot on accurate

+ Stadiums: Awesome

+ Use of lighting is about as good as I've seen in a sports game. Wouldn't mind seeing those overcast clouds show some movement. And asking too much to see the moon in the sky?

+ Weather elements look fantastic. Show footprints in the snow. Looks very realistic.



- If I had a nitpick about the commentary, I'd say, you're playing in Heavy Snow ,I wish they would talk more about the weather. I played in a Heavy snow game and the snow wasn't even mentioned in the pre game.

- Not a fan of this soundtrack.

I like what you said here. My only problem, is videos I've watched in the snow. I watched the GB vs CHI in GB in the snow. Field looked brand new in the 4th quarter. I hate that. At least in 17 if it was a snow game the field looked worn. If it's a cold game, I want the field to look cold/worn/not bright green grass, like CHI or GB's fields do. You can look at the field and know it's cold there. Not brand new in December.

So far... definitely Madden.

I skipped 17 and owned 16.

Just played the quick opening game. Brady picked me apart. Not sure if I'm just terrible at defense but he wasn't missing much.

I really wish by this point they had the Lambeau Leap in the game, and Todd Rundgren playing when the Packers score a TD. There would be way more immersion.
