Operation Sports to Demo Major League Baseball 2K8 Tomorrow

Matt Blumenthal will be representing Operation Sports at a meeting with 2K Sports tomorrow afternoon, to view a demo of Major League Baseball 2K8.

If you have any questions about the game, feel free to post them here. He will do his best to get the answers after the event, as time permits. We'll post the writeup of the event later this week.
Platform: Xbox 360 / PS2 / PS3 / Wii / PSP

good to see that someone gets to see a demo

if you get a chance to look at sim stats, they mentioned that they fixed the engine (instead of scrapping it and going 3rd party) ... can you see if the total IPs for starters, total Ks and BBs for both pitchers and hitters is a bit more realistic this year

Looking forward to the write up.
My only question is concerning how the game runs.
Does it feel smooth? as far as "herky jerky" player movement?

Re: Operation Sports to Demo Major League Baseball 2K8 Tomorrow

Excellent news, can't wait for your impressions.

A few questions:
1. When you play with one of the top 100 prospects will it be indicated in the game (e.g., MVP 05)?

2. When playing with minor leaguers (especially A, and AA), will you be able to tell the difference between them and major leaguers (pitching, batting, etc.)?

3. Is their co-op play this year (like the BIGS)?

4. Will we be able to save replays, and perhaps create our own highlight reels (maybe with a separate download utility)?

That's all for now. Thanks in advance!

Question for you Steve. With only about a week before the game releases, it seems that you should also be getting your own demo disc soon, not just viewing a demo showed by 2K.

Any word on that? Once you get it then you can go crazy with many more impressions, vids, etc.

The only question that matters: When will we get it?

-When playing the demo can you confirm if the bat sounds are dynamic based on contact made. Right now they all sound like a solid hit.

-How is the risk/reward with the analog throwing. Will you get punished for pushing the envelope or is it somewhat forgiving?

-How responsive are check swings with the analog batting? Easy or hard to perform?

Thanks!

Re: Operation Sports to Demo Major League Baseball 2K8 Tomorrow

I have a few questions of my own...

1. When hitting, are there a realistic number of balls thrown?

2. When pitching, will the CPU take third called strikes?

3. How "solid" does hitting feel (does the ball do what it's supposed to)?

4. Doubles? Triples? Or singles and dingers?

5. Does commentary sound more varied than last year?

6. Higher detail at 30fps (2K7), or lower detail at 60fps (2K8) - which game has an overall better feel in motion?

I think that's it. Looking forwar to the impressions!
