I think what I've felt was lacking in EA's next gen football efforts has been a feeling of being immersed in the game. A nice job with the presentation and overlays can help this. I know this may sound strange but it's almost as if I can visualize other people watching my game on TV and that makes the game feel deeper to me.

And yes I am one of those uber-dorks who does his own commentary during the games (only when I'm by myself haha)

Things look promising for the series, it seems like with Ortiz out the direction has focused away from the more, casual, ritalin generation player and back to the sports sim enthusiasts who built the Madden brand.
. IMO online gaming and the tournament play has ruined sports games.

Re: Madden 09 Interview is up!

I'm a person thats easily hyped, and i have to say: I CAN'T WAIT FOR MADDEN 09. That interview sounded juicy as well as great. The holographic intro sounds pretty cool. If the AI is truly that great and adaptive then its a great way to start of the player. Directly kick him into that mode and then the entire game adjusts to them. This is a big thing if the AI sucks, but they've talked about it quite a lot and it seems as if maybe just maybe the AI will be good this year. Its a better idea then just having Rookie-Pro-All Pro- and All Madden. This way it can give a player whose better than all pro yet worst then All Madden somewhere in the middle which would be great.

The shortening of animations sounds great as well. They did a decent job with their branching animation last year, but this year it sounds like it'll even be better. Being able to chain moves is quite cool if the animations are up to it. People might brag that its stupid, but 2K5 did a great job with that and i can see Madden finally being able to do the same.

The Madden IQ thing reminds me a lot of the VIP mode in 2K5 which is a good thing. Also the TV style presentation coming back is ace.

I may just be falling in the hype again, but i can officially say this shall be the best madden this next generation has see.

Meh.....I gotta see it in action first. I got pumped big time last year when they talked about the gameplay enhancements and I won't be fooled again.

Aw damn...I don't want to buy into the hype but I'm starting to feel a little bubbly inside. Just the broadcast presentation and the return of actual commentators makes this an entirely new game (at least for me). I hope it turns out ok.

Same here. I hope they bring back the progressive lighting.

Wow, they actually took my total control feature I asked for in my wishlist this year.

Thanks EA!

I agree in part with this Sage. It has taken the dignity from sports games, then over the top trash talking, the non sim like strategies, all of these things have been glorified, and thinking like a coach has been dumbed down also. I like the adaptive intelligence idea, but it worries me also. I still hope that you adjust sliders manually.
