FIFA 09 Interview (FIFPlay)

FIFPlay has posted a very informative interview with David Rutter, Line Producer of FIFA 09.

Quote:
FIFPlay: "As you know, at FIFPlay we are trying to collect the suggestions and ideas of FIFA fans and deliver them to people like you at EA … Some of the features that fans would like to see in FIFA 09 are such as a stadium editor, in-game referee, more leagues & teams, kit/face editor tool, women’s soccer, more tournaments, training mode & …, how about them in FIFA 09?"

David: "We’ve not got all of these – but there’s the Referee and his assistants. We’ve also done a heap of improvements generally around the game. You’ll be able to customize your controller totally, and take it online. We’ve made the in game team management 2 player, and we’ve addressed the need for Manual v Semi or Full assisted in online play. Were also improving the ‘disconnection’ issues online – so…"

Re: FIFA 09 Interview (FIFPlay)

Thanks, Steve! Guys this one is worth your time and although it's fairly brief, it does contain some new nuggets of info (as well as stuff we've all seen before). One of my favorites: "For intelligence, we’ve massively improved positioning, goalkeeping, reducing the frequency the ball is intercepted in certain situations, through-balls and enabling skilled players to curl passes and crosses." Good stuff if it all plays out as well as Rutter hopes...

Can someone post it here?

My job blocks all game related sites.

The EA Locker sounds great. I hope we can use it to trade team lineups along with team tactics.

I am worried about people online exploiting this though:

"1 - Up to 3 mins the users when quitting will get no penalty at all – This allows users to judge the connection quality.
2 - Between 3 and 5 mins the user who quits will get a DNF rating – This means we don’t penalize too harshly quitters in case the quality drops
3 - After 5 mins the user who quits will get a DNF rating and a 3-0 loss – The users own fault."

So if you come out and score right away people can quit with no penalty???

No different than it is right now, right? Maybe a DNF, but no loss credited.

Thought so, which makes me wonder why he mentioned it in the interview as if it is something different than 08. Anyway, I don't play ranked because of cheesers and Barcelona dorks.

Another thing the producers keep pointing out is the "practice system". Whenever they get asked about it, they have always given the same answer, which sounds exactly like what 08 had...that cheap free kick w/o a wall.

And you must not have played recently, because the Barcelona dorks have switched to ManU....of course.
