NBA Live 09 Rewind Q&A (IGN)

IGN has posted a Q&A with Gareth Reeder, Producer of NBA Live 09.

Quote:

IGN: "How are hot and cold streaks decided?" Gareth Reeder: "There are actually two different streak values we look at from Synergy Sports Technology. The first is your traditional "shot" streak; if a player shot better than he usually does during that game, then he will be hot in the game. This is most determined by the player's shooting percentage, but also takes into account his position and other factors."

I hate to sound picky, but one of the main programmers of the game was featured in this film and in the end of it he demonstrated by dribbling down the court and missing a jump shot. To show how "Rewind" allows you to change the course of history, they rewind back and he dribbles down the court and makes the same jumper that he missed the first time, effectively rewinding time to change history. The only problem is HE TRAVELED BOTH TIMES! It just concerns me when one of the top guys involved with programming a game doesn't have any idea what a travel is in basketball.

Am I over analyzing?

Ah beat me to it haha! I hope that the demo features this, letting us choose to rewind a couple of games, so that we don't get stuck with only two teams.

I like the feature too, it'll be a nice break in-between my franchising stuff.

Damn this Synergy thing gave EA a lot of tools to play with! We have yet to see how it translates in game, but they really built a great foundation for Live with this.

The game looks great, and the demo can't come soon enough!

Nice ending to that video too, very creative. EA really puts a lot of effort into these vids.

Dunk animations are 3 times better than 08. I wish they had something like the shotstick in Live tho. Kobe doing 360's in a half court setting is not a good look, lol. Jumpshots look terrible tho. Graphics look amazing tho. Can't wait to play!
