The History of Wrestling Games (IGN)

IGN has posted a interesting article called IGN Presents the History of Wrestling Games.

Quote:
"On the Sega Master System, Pro Wrestling was a super-deformed tag team mashup, mixing up grapples with knee drops, suplexes and aerial moves. More importantly, it introduced a rudimentary heal/face system to determine which teams could and couldn't fight each other, determined by another early innovation: optional in-ring weapons."

It was a nice try by IGN, but they got a lot of stuff wrong when it comes to the gameplay of the AKI games and such.

I enjoyed the look back. I'm always a big fan of these types of articles.

My all-time favorite wrestling game to play was WCW/NWO Revenge for N64.

Yeah that would have been the ultimate. I loved playing as AKi Man and using his Ultimate Punches move. Or Dr. Frank and spin the guy around by his feet. Then he would fall down too.
