I initially considered the multipul settings would relate more to the offline game to begin with. I would imagine they'd want the EAHL teams and players to be all on the same level. I would hope their default settings for online is full assist off but we'll see what they go with.

Got the OK to share Jason's reply to my inquiry about the passing settings for ranked/EASHL play:

I doubt we'd go all the way to zero pass assistance to start with, but we will have the ability to change it, so if there is a strong consensus about it we could.

There's quite a wide range in the passing options. The 09 passing would be at one extreme and the default for online will probably somewhere in the middle of the range.
Good news, eh?

Its a start anyway, I'd imagine in wanting to have some appeal to the casuals is why it prolly won't be totally pass assist free. The idea that they will take feedback and are able to tweak it if need be though is quite reassuring that it will be balanced.

Maybe what they really should do is setup 2 EASHL. One where some pass assist will be allowed and one for fully sim teams wher there is no pass assist.

That's the better idea.
Or if you play with full pass-assist it's for non-ranked games only.

It takes a lot away from the BAP building process if you play with full pass-assist. Because if that's how it's going to be, I won't sink one XP point into my passing. There's no need because with full-assist everyone can dish the puck like Gretzky.

You need to give those that build playmakers some advantage and value to an EASHL team.

Re: NHL 10 Community Event Preview (The Sports Game Guy)

What about introducing a certain degree of computer controlled error (how much I don't know) when using full assist that would encourage casual players to learn the manual passing scheme while at the same time not discouraging them completely?
