Re: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 Review

I don't think they can move the US Open because of licensing issues.

But it's not played at the same course every year, so I don't understand. It's at Pebble Beach next year for example.

Another thing: they have a faux-tourney substituting for the British Open, so no licensing conflicts there. Yet it's played at the same course each year as well.

Re: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 Review

Because it isn't the "British" Open.

They have to pay just to say "US Open". I think their license is only for the 2009 US Open which is at Bethpage.

I'm sure it is licensing and not something EA can change.

Unfortunately the lawyers sometimes mess with our sports games more than we'd like.

That doesn't make sense. EA didn't pay to use the name "British Open", or "The Open", or "The Open Championship." They call it the "UK Major Championship." Yet every year in TW 10 the tourney is played on the same course. So it's not a licensing issue. It's a programming decision. It was obviously simpler from a game development perspective to just create one generic season template, and then rinse and repeat each year.

I didn't understand what you meant...

The minute they moved a tournament to a course that hasn't been historically used, people would scream.

Obviously with a handful of courses you're never going to see accurate seasons. I'm not saying you are wrong for asking, but it just realistically is never going to happen.

Maybe so. But I don't think it's too much to expect the "UK Major Championship" to take place at Turnberry one year (which is where it always takes place in TW 10), St Andrews the next year, and Wentworth the following year. Career mode is already completely barebones as it is: next-to-no set-up options, no qualifying, no amateur tour, no having to spend earnings on entrance fees, no way to check other pros' season stats... Pretty anemic effort as far as Career modes go.

I'm pretty agree with this review. I own tiger 09 and i won't get tiger 10 for the few additions.

I think that EA have focused on the wii version this year because wii version is simply amazing.
