One of the things that stood out to me most during the game is the new physics engine, which handles all forms of contact, and reacts according to the situation. For example, shorter players will have a much tougher time out rebounding bigs, and player on player contact differs depending on whether the contact takes place in the air or on the ground. The other notable impact of this system is the newly implemented live ball physics. In last year’s game, the ball didn’t seem to go live often, and most players could keep a handle on it fairly easily. In 2K12, the ball can make contact with anything and react accordingly, leading to a lot more intense scrambles for possession.
this right here sounds sweet...

so the ball is now live? no more canned animation steal? so when my player reaches for the ball and makes contact does that mean that he will actually hit the ball rather than pass through it?

The team admitted that it was a band-aid meant to discourage players from running their player down court before their team was going to get a rebound and then having the rebounder pass the ball to the now-wide-open man down court.
Had to read this a couple times before I realized they meant cherrypicking.

Hopefully they've improved on the Help Defense/Collapse defense so it's harder to get into the paint for a dunk/layup this year around.

Really impressive stuff. Here's to hoping we get in depth news soon.

Yeah that sounds really cool, as well as diving onto the scorer's table.

I hope one of these hands-on previewers was an avid NBA 2K gamer and will tell us there's a lot less of the herky-jerkiness or suction movements and animations happening while on defense.

I'm still kind of confused about the post up game enhancement. So you post up with L+R or L2+R2, then you press Y or triangle? What's with the second part?

With post-ups being enabled by pressing Y/triangle, I wonder what we will be able to do with the triggers and shoulder buttons.

They never are.
