Can we actually play against a friend online now? (Thing you can do in 2k11 and 12 on consoles)

No. But now you find people via quick match lot faster. Tried several times to find a friend, in less than 5 minutes, we found each other. It takes just few seconds (the longest waiting time was ~30 seconds) to find someone, so you can try to find him, till you got it.

Thanks. Still, "you can try to find him, till you got it", what a terrible, terrible way to do it. Bugged website, bugged friend system, no way to invite a friend to play.

We're testing different stuff over at NLSC, trying to see if something can fix that. There's a guy saying that from his experience he has gone over 15 games without a CTD, as long as there was a program occupying as much RAM as NBA 2K12 did while the game was running.

Sounds extremely weird and goes against everything I know from my CS studies, but I thought that there was nothing to lose.

So I made a tool that does nothing more than allocate as much memory as you tell it to. I can't say I have verified his theory, as I only tested it for 2 games (playing the game with the tool running in the background) and didn't get any crash.

It might just be that this weird fix works, or it doesn't.

In either case, it won't hurt you to try it out and tell us if it worked for you or if the guy just got lucky for 15 games straight.

You've just been lucky. I've had the game crash on me all too often, and it's extremely frustrating when it happens after 3 12 minute quarters, as you've lost an hour of a good game most often. And the crash reports are coming from people with all kinds of set-ups. No matter the CPU, GPU, drivers, OS, roster, whether you've installed mods or not, there's this damn random crash once in a while that will make you want to put your controller through your monitor.
