Time for Microsoft to resurrect High Heat as an XBL game so we have some MLB on the 360 next season.

Time must have passed us by my man...I'm 100% with ya. Personally I have never bought and probably will never buy a UFC game, I have zero interest in it. It makes me wonder if the golden age of sports gaming is behind us. We're to the point where we have one option for baseball, football, and for the most part basketball....the whole genre seems to be a dying off.

I agree that next gen seems to be more likely for EA's return to baseball. This is the time to start, though. There would probably be a greater buzz for a new EA baseball game on the next gen, than MMA. MMA is huge, don't get me wrong, but it also fills in as a replacement for Fight Night, since boxing has been on the decline. It makes no sense for EA to make a baseball game for PS3 and the 360, given the economy. It must be cheaper and easier for them to wait until next gen.

I think it's more to do with the fact that they already have the license, a game build, etc in place for UFC and nothing current for baseball to build from.

So, it's buy a license and build from scratch or use a license and build from a foundation. Considering sales numbers for UFC games are fairly comparable to MLB games (and in a more saturated genre to boot), it makes perfect sense. Sucks, but there you have it.

Didn't EA bring over Ramon from SCEA to work on Madden. U would think they brought him over for a future Baseball game. EA will focus on Next Gen, trust me there will be a game from EA in the future.

Id be interested on how baseball compares on attendance to other sports if you count how full the stadium is. NBA and NHL arenas, from my understanding, dont normally have large stadiums compared to NFL and MLB stadiums.

Re: EA Sports Andrew Wilson States The Timing Isn't Right to Bring Back Baseball

The UFC/MMA is a huge sport in Brazil, Canada, US, UK and Australia. Its growing in other countries too. MLB's popularity is primarily in the US, Latin America and Japan (even though Japan typically follows the Japanese league)

It makes all the financial sense in the world. The last 3 UFC games have sold over 1 million games across two platforms. Great games like the Show sell half as much and have no sales outside of the US.

Exactly, MMA has become a worldwide phenomenon, while MLB's appeal remains largely exclusive to the Americas and Japan.

And unlike the NFL, MLB doesn't have nearly enough domestic support to offset the global disinterest.
