Out of the Park Baseball 15 Available 4/18, iOOTP 2014 on 4/17

Out of the Park Developments today announced that Out of the Park Baseball 15 will be available on April 18 for all pre-order customers and April 21 for all customers. If you are interested you can pre-order the game here.

"This is the version of OOTP that will set the bar for all editions of the game to come," said said lead developer and lifelong baseball fan Markus Heinsohn. "Support for 3D ballparks and 3D in-game ball flight is the stepping stone to 3D players on the field next year, and that will open the door to even more innovations in the years to come."

In addition, iOOTP Baseball 2014, the iOS version of the game for those who enjoy managing their teams on the go, is currently in review with Apple. The expected release date on the App Store is April 17, but it could be earlier or later, depending on Apple's review process.

iOOTP Baseball 2014 will offer these new features:
  • iOS 7 support (iOS 4.3 will be the minimum required)
  • A redesigned interface
  • Retina display support
  • iPhone 5/5S/5C support
  • Opening Day 2014 rosters
  • A Player Editor (edit everything from name and contract details to ratings)
  • AI improvements, including a direct port of the new player evaluation AI in OOTP 15
  • Bug fixes and various other improvements
We just uploaded 10 new iOOTP 2014 screenshots here, and nine new OOTP 15 screenshots here.
Platform: iOS / Mac / PC

The addition of a player editor makes iOOTP 14 a must-buy for me!

I wish they would get around to making an Android version. I would definitely buy it. I'm already buying the desktop version, but I like to play on the go as well.

OOTP 15 hit a bit of a snag with their 3D engine -

However, there's one area of the game that we're still working on, and we've thought long and hard about it only to come to one conclusion: 3D mode won't be quite ready for prime time on OOTP's Opening Day. We've been feverishly working on it, and it's in really good shape in a lot of ways: You can import 3D models in various formats in the ballpark editor, activate 3D mode when playing out a game and view a 3D stadium that you can view through the defined cameras, and you can see the 3D ball flight and the player names and ratings on the field. The game ships with a generic fictional major league stadium and a generic fictional minor league park; those are ready to be used right away.

3D mode isn't perfect, though: The ball flight isn't always as realistic as it should be, and there are some other issues, including little things missing that we expected to be done for release initially (3D replay, special situations like ground rule doubles, weather effects etc.).

We never want any area of the game to be less than perfect, but unfortunately 3D will still be a work in progress upon release. We're trying to resolve the issues and improve the feature as fast as we can, but we won't be able to deal with everything by the 18th (or the 21st). We'd rather take this route than delay the release, especially since everything else in the game is ready.
