Logitech G Introduces G29 and G920 Force Feedback Racing Wheels

After being rumored for weeks, Logitech has officially announced the G29 and G920 force feedback racing wheels. Check out the video here.

DiRT Rally, Driveclub and Project CARS have all confirmed compatibility.

The Logitech G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel will be available in July for the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4, while the Logitech G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel for Xbox One and PC will be available in October. No matter which version you decide on purchasing, it will cost you $399.

Read the full press release below.

Fans of racing games have been clamoring for a new Logitech G racing wheel to play the hottest driving games on next-generation consoles. The wait is finally over with the announcement today that the Logitech G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel for Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 will be available in July, and the Logitech G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel for Xbox One and PC will be available in October.

Each wheel has been engineered with dual-motor force feedback to realistically simulate the feel of your car. Helical gearing ensures exceptionally smooth, quiet and precise steering action. Anti-backlash hardware keeps the wheel and pedal input tight, to maximize control. These wheels feature hand-stitched leather, stainless steel paddle shifters and pedals and solid steel ball bearings will last for years around the track and replicate the feel of your car.

Improving on the G27 design, the G29 and G920 each include a separate pedal unit, that lets you comfortably brake, accelerate and change gears, just as you would in an actual car, and also allows you to maintain a more realistic body position for driving. The Driving Force Shifter, available as an optional add-on and sold separately, adds even more control with a six-speed gear selector and push-down reverse. All components can be mounted securely to desks or racing simulator chairs such as Playseat.

I wonder if they will provide PS4 drivers for the G25/G27 wheels as well... My guess is no which sucks for us owners.

The interesting thing about the specs on the G29 is that on the logitech site it specifies:

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Playstation®4 or Playstation®3
Powered USB port

OR

Windows® 8.1, Windows 8 or Windows 7

Powered USB Port
Internet connection and 150MB hard drive space (for optional software download)
Games that support Logitech® force feedback racing wheel

I wonder if this means the G29 would work on PC as it explicitly says on their site that is requires various versions of Windows.

I'm a little upset Logitech is charging significantly more for an upgraded system without a packaged, separate shifter. My advice is that people purchase a G27 and get a full package. Plus, the G27 prices should drop once the G29 release date hits.

Unfortunately the G27 does not work with the PS4

You can use the M4 converter to get a G27 to work on the PS4; however, you lose the force feedback. Tbh, I personally am not concerned with PS4 support since the best simulation racing is on PC, but I understand why that would be a deal breaker for some.

$400 is a little outrageous for a wheel, but it's all we got

$400 will no doubt translate to £400 in the UK!
