Probably ego reasons though. Trying to make a guy booed and hated, cheered instead. So WWE can be like "Look at us! We made that happen!".
Hopefully they let him feed off the crowd. Would be a train wreck if they're insistent on making him a good guy, but he's getting booed the whole time. Wouldn't be first guy WWE did that to.

Plus, if you believe the rumors about who might show up, LaVar basically has to be the bad guy here for it to work.
