Madden 2010 News Post

Gamespot has posted the top ten positional ratings for Madden NFL 10. Not all positions of course, and I'm sure most will change before release, but it's interesting.

Quote:
"During the show, Eisen and company revealed the top ten players at several positions in the upcoming Madden 10, as well as their overall ratings. Here's how things will break down this season."

Slaton is a typo. Slaton an 87, not 97.

There seems to be more 98s and 99s then I expected, especially on defense.

# 7 Americas Team1 @ 04/24/09 07:21 PM
I thought Ware would be 99 but hey.........I guess 98 is pretty good to

I would use something like this:

89-91 QB Pennington (Had MVP-like season without much consideration)

86-89 RB Ronnie Brown

93-96 OLB Joey Porter (Great Defensive Season)

80-82 OLB Matt Roth (One of the best run-stuffing LBs in the league, one-dimensional)

84-87 CB Will Allen (Quiet year, was avoided much of the year because of a lack of depth at CB on other side, did well when called upon)

86-89 SS Yeremiah Bell (Ball-hawk SS with no catch ability. Plays the run very well and is always near the ball to make a tackle).

79-82 WR Davone Bess (Great slot receiver, undersized but good hands and best route runner on the team, expect Camarillo and Ginn to be around same rating)

95-98 OT Jake Long (Excellent run blocker, knock on him coming out of UMich was pass blocking, handled speed rushers very well despite this critiscim).

84-87 OT Vernon Carey (Doesn't excel at anything, has played LT as well. Would have been most coveted free agent RT on the market had the Phins not resigned him.)

80-83 C Jake Grove (Oft injured but large center, key free-agent pickup)

Also, interested in knowing what Donald Thomas would be rated at. He only got 1 game into the season last year, but the team was raving about him before a season ending injury. Was a late round pick in 2008 who beat out a bunch of players for the starting LG spot.

So... that is my guess to 10 players on the team and where I could possibly see their ratings. Note this isn't what I think the 10 best Phins players should be, it's just a broad range of players and guesses as to where their ratings may be given the previous season.

Wouldn't mind knowing shawne merriman's rating? Hopefully he didn't take to big of a dive.

Denver:
Brandon Marshall: 92, should be closer to 94 imo (easily the best player for his age on Denver now after Jay's departure)
Ryan Clady: 90 (Gave up half a sack last year, three penalties. 3rd in ROY behind Matty Ice and Dash of the Titans)
Brian Dawkins: 89 (didn't have his best year in the regular season, but showed up in the post season to take the wild card Eagles to the NFC Chamionship)
Champ Bailey: 88 (Injury plagued year, and only one pick in nine games)
Ryan Harris: 88 (Allowed one sack more than Clady did, but is part of the best young tackle duo in football)
DJ Williams: 87 (Only 93 tackles for DJ in an injury year, but the season before he got 143)
Eddie Royal: 86 (One of the best rookie wideout seasons ever, top 10 in receiving yards/catches).
Tony Scheffler: 85 (Had better numbers than Carlson, and was one of Jay's most reliable targets)
Elivs Dumervil: 85 (Had an average year last year, but came off of a 12.5 sack the previous year. Not easy to get good stats with the 2nd to worst D in the League)
Peyton Hillis: 84 (Was put in mid-season, and became Denver's go-to guy on the ground averaging 5 YPC, until he sustained a season ending surgery)
Kyle Orton: 82 (Average QB rating at 79ish, 21-12 record starting though. He won games)

Could use some more help on D. Gogo Tyson Jackson tomorrow!

Hollywood Matt got screwed! How are gonna kill him like that when he hasn't seen the field? Vince Young's bum *** better be around the same rating.

# 18 SHO @ 04/24/09 10:56 PM
And I still think the ratings are too high.

As a falcon fan I can agree with most accept Tony G... he is probably at best in the high 80s.
