NCAA Football 11 News Post

Gameinformer has posted the first review of NCAA Football 11.

Quote:
"Offensive line blocking receives a boost thanks to reworked double-teams and edge blocking on sweeps – which you can now see diagrammed before the snap. That being said, it’s not perfect, and you’ll still see some boneheaded blockers miss their assignments. The most glaring mistake happens when backs try to step up and block on pass plays. This is hard to do when they just stand in your quarterback’s lap. These little annoyances (and some from year’s past – like magnet catches and canned interception animations) keep the game from being perfect, but they aren’t enough to spoil my enjoyment of the game as a whole.

NCAA’s dynasty recruiting is another area of the game that makes a big leap forward while still retaining some of its old flaws. Being able to do it all on your browser is a huge plus, and the improved feedback recruits offer lets you know exactly where your program and pitches stand in relation to the competition. That said, there’s no getting away from the fact that recruiting is still a grind, and if you want to get blue chippers you have to be willing to put the time in (or pay up the recruiting microtransactions). Despite these improvements, it’s confusing when you are awarded the same number of points for topics in which the recruit had differing levels of interest."

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new PA announcer, just the minor inclusion of hearing him belt out that EJ Manuel was coming in for Christian Ponder over the loudspeaker had me grinning ear to ear.

I love the so called "grind" of recruiting as well, but for single player Dynasties they should put some kind of kind of super-sim recruiting for people who don't want to actually have to put any time into it. Its their Dynasty, let them have an easy method to get the best players, it doesn't affect my dynasty. Win-Win for all.

Multi player dynasties, of course, should require maximum grinding to get the best prospects.

I like Game Informer, but I never take their sports reviews too seriously. They gave NCAA 08 an 8.0...

Decent review and not alot of info from what we already know about already. But good interview.

lets keep in mind too that most likely their will be a launch title update so some of the minor annoyances maybe even toned down more by time we get the game.

I expected a more in depth review, but it confirms what I already knew about the game: Best in The Series! Can't wait to play it!

Definitely a "shallow" review but, ironically, I'm leaning more toward just renting this one for bit after initially wanting this game. I'd rather hold off for Madden just for $$$ sake but I'll see how I feel next week on release day.

tuner sets FTW!!!

Im really hoping they can nail down any fixes with these quickly.....instead of hoping and praying for months about mythical patches

Very concerned about the CPU being ineffective running the option comment. Hope that's not true or can be fixed by changing difficulty levels/ sliders. That would be a game breaking kind of thing to me and something that annoyed me to no end last year.

That may be a negative to the reviewer but it is a HUGE positive in my opinion.. Pulling blue chippers SHOULD be a grind
I agree.

It allows them to change certain aspect of the gmae like amount of drops and stuff without needing a patch. You just download their new set and you're good. Currently the NHL series uses them.

Extremely confident about this game now. (not that i wasn't in the 1st place)
Agreed. I think he does a great at Game Informer. 9.0 is a super high score for a sports game.

Game Informer is owned by GameStop, which is the largest video game retailer in the world. They can do whatever they want since EA doesn't want to make a major partner mad.

Sounds promising. I stopped playing NCAA10 after 2 weeks because the blocking AI was so bad.

I'm not sure if I should be excited that the blocking is better or nervous because of this:
