NBA Elite 11 News Post

IGN has posted their NBA Elite 11: Become Legendary preview.

Quote:
"As you'd expect, you begin by creating your player. Height and weight play a role in your original rating and how you'll progress over time with some attributes being more affected than others. Once you're done outfitting your player with new shoes (the list of available shoes will grow as you earn popularity and sponsorship deals), arm bands and hairstyles, it's time to play your first game and enter the draft. No matter how you perform in your intro contest, you'll get drafted in the first round. Your first time on the court is more of a tutorial than anything."

Nice read, I liked it.
Maybe I understood bad but if you reach level 23 it's over?

Yeah, that was a pretty good read. Sounds like a fun mode.

No problem, also.

After watching the video again I noticed that the rookie that was at level 1 has a 69 overall rating, is'nt that too high?

Well if it's 23 levels from 69, it could be spaced out pretty nicely. By the time you hit level 10, you'll probably be about an 80. That sounds decent.

There's something I don't understand about this mode: do you play games and seasons, like My Player mode in 2K11, or do you just get game challenges that you have to complete?

Good read??? Are y´all serious....

This preview was just empty....

What are the goals??? just to be a level 23 no matter how many games seasons etc, or actually be a pro, changing teams, and have a 15 year career etc, while targeting level 23 (aka legend status)

And your draft position depends on that 1st game??? But he said it was a tutorial???

More questions then answers after that... but maybe it was just me...

i dont think so seeing that you are a first round selection i hate that the other game makes u start out so low anybody with the chance to play pro ball can do something on the court

I agree that a lot more questions then answers came from the preview. But, it was still nice to get something to read today. I also want to know if its more a career mode, or a challenge mode.

Still got two months to release, man. I'm sure they will detail it more. Keep in mind this did come from IGN...

Off to read.. will edit this post afterwards.

Ok losing EXP points shouldnt even be there. It should be that you just get a low/underachieving ammount points for a bad performance.

And that one too...

I understand that people just want to see/read something, but we have to understand that this game will be a work in progress until the last day of development, these guys are working hard, and the blog needs to be verified and accepted, and if it comes with a video or screenshots, they have to be careful these blogs are official information, the videos we have been getting are just little gifts for the community to give feedback

So I understand people just being happy with any information about the game, but that preview should not even be out, it has very few content

I like how you have to outplay your opponents if you are a higher level. The writer of this article was saying that could be a downside.

But if you think about it all the greatest players competed with each other and tried to outdo each other, which is what motivated them and gave them such fame. That's why Jordans considered the GOAT, because he outdid everyone of his time and there was no doubt. It makes sense to me.

I like.

I'm fine with the way they have it. You shouldn't be rewarded for playing poorly. This mode isn't intended for you to improve so much that all your attributes are maxed out.

Here's an example. Let's say you're a 3pt specialist with a 3pt rating of 80, and you're shooting 40% for the season. All of a sudden you hit a cold streak and you end up shooting 20% from downtown for a 5 game stretch. Should you be given less XP for shooting poorly but still be able to increase your 3pt rating, or should your rating take a slight hit to reflect how you're performing? Personally I think the latter is more appropriate, because your performance is dependent on your rating and vice versa. It's a perpetual relationship which is far more dynamic than improving regardless of how well you perform. Additionally they've added a bounce back feature so you can redeem yourself after a bad game to regain the XP (or at least a portion of it) you lost.

Exactly. Getting all the way to level 23 should be challenging. No walk in the park here.

this is what i was talking about as for having single player mode. i was more so hoping that it would be incorporate with dynasty mode. BUT, as long as its there, its ok with me.

# 17 terminator t22 @ 08/11/10 03:59 AM
sounds like u play seasons because theyre talking about awards and championships each year. i agree with the xp system. if u start to suck it up ur ratings should go down. dna sounds sweet. sounds more of a natural progression system like a rpg or something

# 18 Jrocc23 @ 08/11/10 04:23 AM
This sounds good so far. I like how you earn and lose your attributes.

# 19 DaveDQ @ 08/11/10 08:00 AM
What I don't understand in this mode is why your player would lose points if he and his team lose to a lesser rated player.

"If you're a level 10 player and you get beat by a player that's worse than you, you take an XP hit. If you're a level 16 player, you need to out-play the other team's best player and win the game in order to see an XP bonus."

I understand that that logic makes the game more challenging, but this game keeps talking about DNA and how it shapes every player. DNA is even a part of this mode, so why on earth would your DNA change if you have an off night? Why not average it out with a numbered amount of games.

Instead of going game to game, maybe average it out on a road trip. you take a set amount of games, determine how you performed and then base the player's ratings off of that. One game should not determine a trend in your skill.

i'm really excited to play this game and this mode
