Chris LaPorte will be opening an arcade bar and lounge called Insert Coins. Does this sort of thing interest you?

Into his bar, that is.
LaPorte's venture, Insert Coin(s), is set to open in April in downtown Las Vegas. The bar and lounge will cater to gamers by having video game systems from every era available to play in what LaPorte describes as a space that will be "Tron meets Blade Runner."
It's classic arcade games. If he has quality, in good condition old arcade games the place will be a hit.
It's not like you will go and play Black Ops. This place will make it's yearly budget in a couple weekends whenever there is a gaming convention in town.
More power to him. Incorporating the bar is important because these places obviously can't stand on their own. I can remember when the arcade was THE place to be.
Thanks for taking the time out to check out the article and commenting! While I know videogames and Vegas seem like an odd combination, by sprinkling cocktail waitresses, bottle service and a jumping nightlife we definitely 'Vegas' it up. That and weekly tournaments for cash (NBA2K & Madden especially) might make the doubters change their minds!
I think it's a great idea. For the 20-30 age group. A lot of us grew up on the NES, SNES, Genesis, but also play the 360's and PS3's of today. This group also can drink with the best of them. A lot of times you'll have friends over to drink and play games. It just makes sense to combine the two at a professional establishment.
Let's see how many controllers they have to replace, though.

Unless you can find a way to attract women to a bar like this it's going to be fighting an uphill battle. No-one wants to be hanging out it a bar full of only dudes so attracting females to the bar should be a priority.
I agree that it will kill on game convention weekends.
