ALAN SMITH JOINS MARTIN TYLER
IN THE BROADCAST BOOTH FOR EA SPORTS FIFA SOCCER 12

Respected Former England Player and Broadcaster Bringing Insights and Fresh Voice To This Year’s Title

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – June 30, 2011 – Well-respected broadcaster and former England forward Alan Smith was unveiled today as part of the main English commentary team for EA SPORTS™ FIFA Soccer 12, joining long-time commentator Martin Tyler as the primary voices of this year’s title. FIFA Soccer 12, chosen Best Sports Game by the E3 Game Critics, launches September 27 in North America and September 30 worldwide.

“Alan will bring a fresh, new perspective and insight to FIFA Soccer 12, working alongside the trusted and well-known voice of Martin Tyler,” said David Rutter, Senior Producer of FIFA Soccer 12. “As one of the top-tier broadcasters in the UK, he brings enormous knowledge and expert analysis to the game so that we can deliver the most authentic FIFA experience this year.”

“The natural chemistry that Martin and I have developed working live matches for TV has transferred very well to the virtual broadcast booth,” said Smith. “I’m really looking forward to FIFA fans hearing our work this fall as we bring all the match day emotion and excitement to this year’s game.”

For the first time ever, FIFA Soccer 12 will feature two English broadcast teams, and more than 10,000 lines of fresh commentary, making the game sound new and different all year long. The second commentary team, featuring Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend, will call tournament matches, giving these games a real-world broadcast feel and sound. Fans will also have the option to customize the audio to their preferred commentators for any matches.

This really is awesome. I cant think of how many times ive jumped through forums like 2k or madden saying how great it would be to have multiple broadcast teams and Different style presentations such as ESPN and TNT etc. Congrats to Fifa 12 , They really are leading the charge so to speak for
the real time physics , the multiple broadcast teams etc. This is what we've all been waiting for.

Couldn't agree more. Getting a PS3 this summer for the big football releases and NBA 2k12 but FIFA looks like it will be right up there with 2K.

So he can't ask the EA employees to tuck in his mic for him either? Shame.

If they can get Chris Kamara to be the sideline guy I'll be one happy gamer.

Wow, two different commentator teams. This will definitely be my first current gen FIFA purchase...although I DID buy 11 but returned it after overspending. Lol. No returns this tome, tho

This is great news to hear. Now if only they would finish the stories or points that they were making without interrupting themselves for the play by play of a simple pass through the midfield.

I'd be excited with the multiple commentary teams if the sheer fact they picked Alan Smith killed all chances of me using the default team. He's boring, so so boring.

Any word on how many other language announcer teams will be included? I know Arabic is for sure in '12, and I'm sure we will have Spanish. French? German?

Do you mean the mexican or spanish ones? I don't like the mexican ones and I wish they replace those with someones from latin ESPN.

I have never messed with the foreign languages. I'm thinking now I might do a La Liga dynasty with Spanish conmentary if its any good.

Why won't EA Sports sign Ian Darke? The guy's phenomenal at what he does...
