To me it's really sad that on an indepth forum like OS people are obsessed with ovrl ratings. This thread would look pretty much the same on the 2k forum. I mean cmon guys!!!!

None of you played the demo? Even last year overall ratings didn't matter much (Afflalo was one of my favourite SGs) but this year I think it's even more so. I played the demo a 100 times (at least) and I must say playing with Fernandez was really sweet and he is rated 65! 65 people. I watch the European Championship where Spain tore everyone apart and I must say that I am able to play with Fernandez like he played in the Championship. A good shooter, he can drive some, he is nasty on dunks and layups and that is ALL in the game.

Who the hell cares about overalls as long as they play true to themselves. While reading this thread I am under the impression that you would all rather see accurate overall ratings and be happy even if then they played like some old school video game players from NBA live 95.

Ratings have become complex and there is a ton of them, some affect the overall more than others. I wish 2k just gave an option to edit the overall rating so people would be hapyy with their BLING BLING.

P.S. I for one am excited that the ratings are so diverse, should make for a more dynamic game. I also will reserve judgement for the time when I have the game in my hands, then I will be able to see what's what.

Wow! ratings went WAY down this year. At least everybody went down at the same time. 'cept Lebron anyway. meh at least you can adjust the ratings. I'll be taking Lebron down to about 95. Wade down to 93. I agree with the rest of the ratings. Only reason I take Wades down is cause to be totally honest, even though I can't stand the guy LeBron is the best player in the league at this current time. (better watch for Durant and Rose though). I can't have Wade's overall better than LeBrons so I take em both down a bit. The rest of the ratings are really fine with me like I said everybody dropped together. Just 98 is a huge outlying. He rose while everyone else dropped.

I'm cool with Rose and Durant being rated the same overall.
Did you watch the Knicks last year? Some of Melos top performances? Like game 2(think it was that one) with the Celtics? That performance was legendary and his stats should be tuned in a way that it allows the user to get such performances from him.

The problem with most such players like Melo (even Lebron) is a problem of mentality and psychology and until 2k mostly rates physical and skill attributes
the ratings will look off. Same goes for the Mavs. Their chemistry and the experience coupled with their skills is what won them the championship.

I'm sure 2K will develop an accurate psychological system for the next generation consoles. Maybe bring some sports psychologists in their crew. Should make everyone happy.

Meh, these ratings look fine for the most part. They tried to seperate the elite players from the rest of the pack but probably went 2 or 3 points too high. Melo and Joe Johnson are probably coming down first with LeBron, Wade, Kobe & Rudy Gay next. Still need to see how their individual ratings effect gameplay to really know if ratings need major adjusting. Seven more days......

Dude you make 0 sense comparing overalls of players that don't even play the same position.

Also .. when you argue the ratings use the number to argue who's a better all-around player. That's different from who's a better overall player. The ratings reflect all-around skill. If you are a specialist .. and Dirk is an offensive mid range specialist --- you ratings will likely be lower than someone else who is not as good as you in the mid range but is more athletic overall all over the court. Overall basketball athletes ... Lebron and Wade ARE kinda up there. But they are generalists tho.

But skill wise ? Mastering a certain specialty -- ie: Deadly mid-range (Kobe, Dirk, Durant, Melo) .. or Deadly 3 (Allen, Korver, etc) - those with this talent will be rated less than overall basketball athletes.

So use the ratings to argue .. Who is the better overall athlete? Your points will hit a little closer to home from that perspective.

gallo and ricky 67? what?

# 72 Stickz24 @ 09/27/11 08:08 AM
And that's why I can see why Rudy Gay is rated higher than Dirk ... but with the team around him -- Dirk doesn't need to do the things Rudy has to. In that regard .. Dirk might as well be a 99 .. because he'll be a 99 for what you need to use him ... that deadly mid range.

Remember that the phrase .. jack of all trades .. master of none isn't necessarily a good thing in most cases. But again, look at the ratings from a "jack of all trades" perspectives and it'll make more sense.

I'll give 2k good call on that one. Small Forwards are the most likely players to have an all around game .. makes sense that the small forward with the most all around game is rated highest. Powers and Centers are less likely to have an all aorund game - they dont need it. Makes sense they'd be typically lower rated but more directly powerful and impactful to the game. Dunk 99, Low Post 97, Rebounds 99 .. Jumpshot 50 Dribble 25 (Rated 74) versus a small foward at Dunk 85, low post 80, Rebounds 80, jumpshot 80, dribble 80 (rated 81) ... (and that;s just simple average .. no weights included).

But clearly that Center might be more of a problem than that small forward if he has the right team around him. Ahhhhh - You get it. It's not like y'all will say .. Oh that makes sense ... let's stop debating now.

But there it is tho - least its there for you to consider.

People still care about ratings of a shipped game in a day and age where they can be adjusted on the fly via tuner sets and game updates?? hmmm...no wonder gaming isnt what it used to be...

Yup.....it's gonna be one of these years online this season. Although I do think Derozan & Bargnani should've been able to crack atleast a 70 after last season.

Ive been saying that for years...............the bromance between ESPN and Lebron is on exponental levels...in the coverage,,,hype,,,media attention.............now 2k wants to get into a bromance triangle is sickening.......everyone knows Lebron cant shoot consistent jumpers so that rating should be a B at best......and his clutch factor should be an D at best.......i would rate them lebron at 96... wade at 95 and kobe at 94.

So Wilson Chandler and JR Smith are in the game? Even though they signed in China?

Niceeeee.

# 79 STLRams @ 09/27/11 08:41 AM
I like Lebron but after how he played in the Finals, I don't think he should have got bumped up to a 98, they guy was getting shut down in the 4th quarter.

# 80 jovan69 @ 09/27/11 08:55 AM
Mr. Choke should be 94, Rose 93, Kobe and Wade 95?
