I was one of the Game Changers involved in the community event down in Orlando, and if there is anything you want to know about the new swing mechanic or other info, I'll try to answer! I can also be more commonly found on Twitter @CoreySA if you guys have anything to ask me on there.

The Total Swing Control mechanic looks to be the groundbreaking revolutionary step this game needed. Do you feel like the golfer is now more subject to the laws of physics and is under the restraints of acceleration, interita, and torsion? It sounds like this new mechanic will add so much feel to the game. I've longed for something that would require more golf intuition and make me feel move involved with the shotmaking and execution process.

Great comment. It's hard to explain it fully without feeling it for yourself (my impressions will be out later on today), but it does 'feel' completely different. For long-playing Tiger fans there is definitely going to be a learning curve on higher difficulties and there are over 60 million different shot variations and possibilities in the game. Your acceleration is based on the speed you move at and trust me - on higher difficulties this game is no longer an easy play.

Every shot out of the bunker requires thought and care, same with deep rough. No more hitting shots 240yds. out of the rough. There is also a new ball marker for spin control which requires you to hold down the right stick at the position you want to hit the ball WHILE you swing. Shot making is a thoughtful process now but on easier difficulties this can all still be toned with options.

LOL... believe it or not, this was the answer I was hoping to get! The fact that it can't be explained without feeling it tells me there's a lot going on under the hood! I can't wait to get my hands on this game. I've been complaining about the lock & load swing mechanic that has turned this game into laser darts for years.

Thanks for your comments on the difficulty on hitting trouble and hazard shots as well... there needs to be a penalty when playing these shots.

Eh, this doesn't justify a purchase for me. It seems like we're getting leftovers every single year with TWPGA, which is ok because there isn't that much you can do new every year.

The one good thing about the game is that it encouraged me to learn the game. I can play more than 21 courses now.

Haha. No worries man. I'm confident you'll like what you get this year. I feel like they really paid homage to the hardcore fans this year. My full impressions will be out later on and I'll be sure to put a link in the comments here as well. It will give you a more detailed look on things I saw while in Orlando and what to expect. Glad I could help!

I don't plan to buy another edition until they add some way to play a full season or career with friends.

One other quick item of interest to me... have they made many changes to the camera presentation options this year? I like TrueAim, but I'd like to have the option to cut to a finishing view camera similar to what they use in Tiger Woods Online on the PC. I also found it annoying how you would always drop to a waist high view of the putt at the moment of impact. I'd prefer to keep my perspective locked at the shoulder or head height, to better see how the putt played out.

great news about the swing mechanics....after 22 yrs, this game might actually start feeling like golf.

Kinect integration for Xbox will get a full reveal on January 24th. Unfortunately until then I am under NDA and cannot discuss it.

Due to the swing meter being different and uniform for all clubs, the putting camera angles have changed although I'm not really sure what they settled on. Last time I looked at the game was in September and they were still working on presentational features and camera angles so I really couldn't answer that one with accuracy, but yes there are some different looks this year.

I'm holding until they figure out how to make a golf game where it's a challenge to shoot par, I don't expect this to be it. May give it another look in 20 years or so then give TW another look.
Don't know how you could claim it will be clunky and unresponsive...were we watching the same video? I know a couple of the guys who went to the TW Community Day and I can assure you if what you claim were the case, they would have said something about it. I understand how you feel about EA Sports games from your comments, but nothing in that video contained a hint of what you claim....

Anyway, there is some very good discussion clarifying the new swing mechanic, ball physics and gameplay difficulty in the EA Tiger forums....

Any early word if the Kinect reads the golf swing any better than The Move for the PS3?

If the kinect integration is good, I will definitely buy this game

Yeah, it's been a long time coming - a new mechanic. It really does shore up a lot of the issues we faced with the old shot stick.

I really do hope everyone gives it a shot. Also, for a more in depth look at the shot mechanic, check out Game Changer Fred (Oblong) Parrow's in depth blog --

Has the chipping mechanic been fixed. It's been effectively useless for years.

It has been yes. Again, every single shot can be created by the user. There are now various different ways to chip onto the green and different ways to play it. There is no more of this 'shoot 54%' but only pull the stick back for a fraction of a second garbage. God I hated that so much lol...yeah that stuff is all gone now...

I posed that question to Fred Parrow (Oblong) in the EA Sports Tiger Woods forum. He says that you can tailor your chip shot to have the elevation and runout that you desire, and that it looks like a chipshot when it's hit. I agree with you, chipping was pretty much useless in past games in most situations... good to know they finally fixed this!

Anything new with putting this year? The system used last year was not alot of fun to play.
