Owen Good has posted baseball’s most frightening play, as seen in MLB 12 The Show.

Quote:
On a hot July night in Rochester (actually a cool May evening in Eugene, Ore.) Trevor Plouffe slammed my 0-1 screwball back into my right orbital socket. I recoiled in real-time horror. It was literally cringe-inducing. I have never seen this in MLB The Show in my life, and I screamed as my pitcher fell on the mound, twitching. Plouffe reached first on the base hit off of my face.

Not shown here, because I didn't have the capture software running at the time, is the post-play animation. As much as I wanted to see panicked trainers and dugout personnel running to my motionless body, maybe jamming a towel into my broken and bleeding face, that didn't happen. I was helped up and I shook my head as Matt Vasgersian and Dave Campbell commented generically on my injury. I get the feeling The Show wants to include this type of play for verisimilitude, but doesn't deliver the actual outcome either because Major League Baseball doesn't want to see it in a game, or it would rate a violent content descriptor in the ESRB rating.

I haven't stopped laughing... The sounds (including the siren in the background) are perfect.

granted that was in 8th grade, but i had a concussion not even a month before and i threw low 70s lol.
I had something similar last summer when I was practicing for my softball league. I was pitching and the batter hit it right to my face but lucky my reflex was to put the glove up to my face and I was able to hit it away. Scared the crap out of me and I was pretty nervous/paranoid after that.

This pitcher had a realy bad inning. Consecutive Batters showed him how it could always be worse.

Gives me an eerie feeling. Hits to the face brings back visions of Dixie Thon and the crunching of a jaw and cheekbones crumbling! Game is so realistic I can't seperate video game from real life events!

I can't believe you people are laughing at this!! Are you all sick in the head or something! That type of play could actually kill someone in real baseball! I've always been of the opinion that pitchers should wear head gear with a face guard to prevent this type of play from happening. Sure, a face mask might decrease a pitchers ability, but in the long run it would be well worth it. Certainly NOT a laughing matter!

Baaaaahaaaaaa. Gotcha!!! That **** was funny as hell. His legs kinda twitched when he fell lol!!! Great stuff.

How long was your player out if at all?

I love how the umpire is like, "where'd the ball go?"

Just had something very similar happen. Exibition game Twins @Jays Pavano was pitching and Bret Lawrie beans Pavano in the back of the head, richocettes to the SS who catches it for the out. Cutscene to Pavano laying by the mound and Gardenhire with his hands up in the air..pitcher was replaced due to injury...pretty awesome.

The only way to up the level of "Awesome" on this is to have Pavano's 'stache fly off / go cockeyed when he got belted...

It LOOKS kinda fake, so...

Ugh, read this thread, fired up GAME ONE of my new fantasy draft franchise. Dan Hudson on the mound as the staff ace, K's the side in the 1st. First pitch, first batter of the second inning, liner off his head and he was out a month. Of course I'm the Cubs, so freak injuries and generic terrible baseball is just part of the game.

Funny thing is, Alexei Ogando came in for long relief that game and went 5 innings, 8 K but got the L because he gave up a homer. I put him into the rotation and he dominated so I left him in when Huddy came back and sent Duffy to minor league hell.
