NBA 2K13 News Post

GameInformer has posted the 25 things we know (or will know, after reading it) about NBA 2K13.

Quote:
  • Holding down the left trigger turns the Control Stick back into the Shot Stick from last year.
  • Visual Concepts revamped the passing so players are smarter about which passes they make. This year if you take the ball down the middle on the fast break and see a guy filling the lane you will make a nice bounce pass instead of an overhead pass that is easy for the defender to pick off. If you want to guarantee your player throws a bounce pass, you can hold the left trigger and press the pass button.
  • For the first time in the series, the controls for a dribbler and a player in the post mimic one another. Twirling the right analog stick to spin works in both states. Since players no longer need to master a different minigame when posting up, it should be much easier for players to transition between attacking the basket and playing with your back to the rim.
  • NBA 2K games have always packed in a ridiculous amount of animations, but shots tended to play out the same regardless of contact. Thanks to the new Dynamic Shot Generator, the game now uses a physics system to takes into account momentum, the degree of contact, player size, and strength ratings to determine if a player knifes through the defender, is stopped at the point of contact, or gets the shot off but stumbles and falls to the floor. Visual Concepts hopes this will make contact more realistic and keep the outcomes from looking like canned animations.

These are the questions I need answered....
I thnk they're talking about when you call time out and everyone starts shuffling around dead legged and stiff. My favorite comes when two players meet do that awkward pat on the head thing and the other guy clenches his fist all weird at the same time a defender literally walks between them like they aren't there.

Just trying to keep the realistic motions up even when quarters end, for time outs and fouls, and, I'm assuming, when someone gets hurt.

EDIT: Is this real?

You also need to watch your mouth when using Kinect. If you swear after a bad call, the ref may decide to issue a technical foul.
If so excellent work around for them to include tech fouls.

Half court alley-oops, here I come......No really, what does that mean? Mash buttons really fast? I thought alley-oops have been too easy for a while so I'll just have to wait and see.

Exactly.

This is great way to start off. Starting off with an Nuclear Bomb, by dropping Game play info 1st. Especially with it being info we want to hear.

Seeing that it was Part 1. I expect them to talk about Speed/FB, go more in detail in other aspects of gameplay. What it great was that they basically attacked every aspect of gameplay.

I dont need to hear anything else. This Gameplay improvements will my every other mode better. Most of my issues for MP and Association, were tied into gameplay.

All I need to hear is for Association is Progression upgrade, Sign & Trades, Amnesty Cuts, Better Trade Logic. For MP, I just need to see Better Teammates AI, Better Team Management, Better PlayCalling, and depth in the mode. If I hear those, I wont play any other games for a while.

Most of the signature skills are individual traits, but some players also have skills that extend to their teammates, which Visual Concepts is calling “team auras.” A floor general will improve the play of everyone else on the court, as will a high-energy defensive specialist.
Oh so the Lakers will be even MORE unstoppable, as will the Heat....

I may not need to play with my Kinect then....but that is still freaking awesome!!!

...so no one is concerned that the shot stick has changed?

Everything I wanted added to the game was added for the most part. Have to say I chuckled at the if you swear through the Kinect you may get a tech. Thats cool.

Ok I got my question answered by reading another article. I think this one bolded explains the alley-oop better.

"X" and "A" pressed together are now used for Alley Oops which is a lot more convenient and close by each other instead of using LT and B

While it make take some getting used to, I think the change is for the better. It shouldn't take too long to learn to hold the left trigger when using the shot stick to shoot.

OK.. so if you've ever played any serial of FIFA or PES you'd know how the alley-oops would work. In fifa/pes you'd press the shoot button and pass button(just like in NBA 2K13) and he'd do a fake shot. But in NBA2K13 he would obviously do an alley-oop.

Does Kinect pick up voice seamlessly, or like every other voice activation device is it often:

User: "Run 24 power, for Kobe"

Game:"Running Howard, for three"

Weren't alley oops like this last gen if I remember correctly. Either way its cool with me.

# 40 videobastard @ 08/10/12 01:00 PM
I never liked having to chain dribbles on the same stick as my movment. So the improved rightstick dribbling is good to hear. Also the manual bounce passing and smarter passing is welcomed as well.

Things are sounding good so far. I look forward to seeing and trying them in action. But hopefully with these needed changes they wont be able to be abused too badly to become cheap.
