Videos please. I've seen like one inning of gameplay so far and the game comes out in less than two weeks. Seriously guys, I really want to see actual game footage

I agree with you for the most part. I would like to see giants, yankees and oriols higher. I would like to see sox and jays lower. Rays seem fine...maybe a spot or two higher. I think overall the rankings are not terrible but few teams are very questionable. A's should be a lot higher...definitely higher than Blue Jays

There's always going to be arguing over player/team ratings, hell look at the top 100 player in 2013 on mlb network, Dickey, Tulo, Castro, Harper, Greinke, Heyward, Rivera, all in the bottom 50. Theyre all great players and anyone of them COULD have been in the top 50 with no arguements, but when youre comparing pitchers, catchers, infielders and outfielders, youre going to get some weird rating in terms of relativity to other players/teams.

I think we can all put this to rest by agreeing the Phillies should be 1st in everything end of story.

Can't wait for ppl who cant take a joke to rip that statement apart!

That's an overeaction. Some of the people here probably don't even know whos who. People can say as they please. I don't know why people who have no association with the company of SECA take offense to other peoples comments about ratings. As long as we're not making murder threats or posts that don't have anything to do with the thread, we should be able to say what we want without getting thrown down as wanting or being "spoiled"

Funny, when we are at the events I never see one Red Sox fan on the development team.

People need to understand why the Giants are ranked so low. Yes, they won the World Series, but look at the roster. Guys like Gregor Blanco helped them in real life, but he's not going to be highly rated in the game. Even Scutaro isn't the type of guy who will be rated highly in a video game.

The Giants are better than the sum of their parts. If you break them down player for player, they are nowhere near being the most talented team in baseball. But they had an odd group of guys who were able to grind out games and win. But that doesn't translate to a video game.

"In the AL, they finished with 7th best record, 7h best run differential, losing road record, losing record outside the Central, all this despite playing in the weakest division and getting to beat up KC, Cle, Min, and an average Chi. They might have the worst defense in AL, and are slow everywhere. They get an easy playoff road and have Verlander and Miggy/Prince so people think they are some juggernaut."

The ratings aren't based on last years records, they are based on current rosters. The Tigers upgraded each of their weaknesses that made them struggle so much last year.

Brennan Boesch had a -1.5 WAR last year. He's replaced by Torii Hunter who had a WAR of 5.5.

Delmon Young had a -1.2 WAR last year. He's replaced by Martinez who had a 3 WAR in '11

They have a full year of Omar Infante, who is a huge upgrade offensively and defensively from what they got in the first half of last year from Raburn who hit .190.

And they have a full season of Anibal Sanchez.

Defensively, Austin Jackson and Hunter are two of the best (if not the best) at their positions. Infante is a very good defender and he's replacing one of the leagues worst 2nd basemen (Raburn.) Andy Dirks is the everday LF and he's just slightly below average. Even Jhonny Peralta is one of the better defenders at shortstop, despite his range. They aren't the worst.

Is it really hard to see why they are ranked highly? They were an 88 win team who got rid of all their bad players and replaced them with well above average players. They improved every single aspect of their team that could have been improved.

And also they have 3 of the best players in the league so that will boost their ratings too. And Jackson is becoming one of the games better center fielders. But they aren't top heavy, they have a great team because of the supporting cast.

If we are looking at it player for player then Yankees and Angels have the best lineups imo

#3 Red Sox

As a Sox fan, I approve this (fully knowing that we are not the third best team in the league). Honestly, I'll be happy if Lester can periodically find the strike zone, Clay B. doesn't tear a hamstring sipping from the water fountain, and Lackey remembers why he was once a major league pitcher. Ortiz and Pedroia have been carrying this team for a while now. Need huge seasons from them, Ellsbury, Middlebrooks, Drew, and something from Napoli/Saltalamacchia.

Anyways, nice!

I agree 100% regarding the Giants offense. Absolutely they arent going to translate into high ratings. Its the pitching staff ranking 9th that boggles my mind. One of the best bullbens in baseball and a rotation 1-5 that ranks up there with any team in baseball. Thats what has me scratching my head.

Then again, do the team ratings take in to effect the whole 40 roster instead of just the MLB 25? Maybe thats watering done their ratings?

Glad to see my A's up there!

And how in the hell are the Red Sox #3?!

Giants pitching is overrated. They were 11th in the NL in road ERA. People completely dismiss park factors when looking at team stats and player stats. Considering the entire MLB, they were ranked 27th in defense errors committed and fielding percentage, and 12th in runs scored. Seeing them at 17th overall isn't as far fetched as it may seem.

Yes, Giants won the world series. But like the previous guy said, talent wise they don't stack up. Any of the top 15 teams in baseball can beat anybody in a 7 game series. Guys like Scutaro played out of their minds. They can make the post season pretty easily playing in the NL West, and from there the playoffs are a roll of the dice. Teams like the Nationals, Braves, Reds, and Cardinals look better on paper (and were during the regular season statistically). Even the Dodgers if it wasn't for the injuries especially to Kershaw and Kemp would have finished ahead and Giants were close to not even making the playoffs.

Yes, they won, congrats...but I don't think it makes them automatically the undisputed #1 team in baseball. They're not any more scary to face than the teams mentioned above, plus AL teams like the Rangers, A's, Angels, Tigers, Yankees, Baltimore, and even Toronto.

There's lots of good teams in baseball. I don't think people realize that not too much separates the #3 through #17 teams in the major leagues. A lot of it depends on injuries, timing, luck, and playing in the right division.

So yea, it's just a video game. The players ratings total them to 17th...big whoop. Video games don't capture hot streaks and chemistry the same way.
