"Non-subscribers who can't get DirecTV service will be entitled to a free trial of NFL Sunday Ticket for the 2013 season — including the Red Zone Channel, which shows all plays within 20 yards of the end zone — that they can access on computers, tablets and mobile devices. Both the Red Zone Channel and non-TV access are usually confined to Sunday Ticket Max."

So I can't get DirecTV since my apartment is facing the wrong way. This quote makes it seem like I can buy the $99 anniversary edition and get NFL Ticket for 2013 free on my computer. That seems too good to be true. I have to be missing something right?

I'm curious how long the trial is for non Direct TV subscribers as well...

Edit: misunderstood the quoted section, the free trial is probably just the first weekend of the season. The non-DirecTV package is usually fairly strictly $299 since you aren't offsetting any costs by continuing to be a DirecTV subscriber.

Since you can usually get pretty good deals on Sunday Ticket (paid only for MAX last year, got the rest for free probably pay on average $99-150) I'm not sure this is that great of a deal since I'd have to probably buy Max anyways on top of this. Probably still end up being what I usually pay (don't play any MUT really either).

Certainly good PR and a nice headline for probably one of the most popular packages in pay TV in the US.

Great find by Samit,
I'm interested by this (my dad has directv with ticket, so I have used his online portion before) but this seems easier. I can't get directv in my apartment building so it appears that it will work. It seems very similar to the PS3 deal they had last season that I almost went for. Based off of that, I think what RDonnel1 said is correct. "This quote makes it seem like I can buy the $99 anniversary edition and get NFL Ticket for 2013 free on my computer."
I am not a huge MUT player but this is still very valuable.

Nope -- my article says "free trial of NFL Sunday Ticket for the 2013 season," and that's what I meant. The trial is for the full, 17-week season (I've now added the word "full" there).

Watched nfl Sunday ticket trough my ps3 last season. If I purchase the madden on amazon will I be able to get it trough my ps3??

# 8 huntt26 @ 05/16/13 11:26 AM
Wow, the full package of NFL Sunday Ticket (redzone, etc) and Madden 25 for $99?? That's amazing, especially for people without DirecTV!

Really? I was wondering what I was going to do this year. I switched from Dish to Direct and got the Ticket for free last year. I was OK with just Redzone prior, but you can't get just Redzone with Direct. B$#^&@$*s!

Should I just look out for DirectTV/Ticket specials on NFL Network?

There won't be, people typically play 'CSR roulette' by calling in and saying that they want Sunday Ticket but are going to have to cancel it unless there's any offers. CSRs will see what they can do for ya. You can always get a little something depending on the perceived value of your account, other forums typically discuss peoples' success doing so.

I get more than my money's worth with NFLST, don't try and push CSRs too hard but as someone with more than the base package, buy PPVs, and have a couple of movie channels they're more than willing to make sure we're taken care of.

Bet! The lady of the house has made our account quite valuable.

I'm really digging through this article because I'm probably going in on it. Although I don't think it will work on PS3 after reading this from the article. "that they can access on computers, tablets and mobile devices. " So probably just have to bring my laptop or iPad. (I have done it on my droid before but it SLAYYYSSS the battery, can be cool if your tailgating though etc.)

When we drive to Giants games, we bring an IPAD with a Wifi card, and BOOM, NFL Games while your in the passenger seat. Makes the Boston to NY ride much more enjoyable.

so this is only for current non-subscribers? I have directv, so this promotion won't work for me?

# 14 rockchisler @ 05/16/13 01:54 PM
OK, I'm confused, Why would I sign up for a "promo code for $10 off each month of service for their first year of NFL Sunday Ticket Max" when I get a "free full-season subscription to NFL Sunday Ticket Max".. It will be free so I don't need to sign up...

I don't have a ps3 but what the article is making it seem like is if you buy the anniversary edition then you get access on your computer. So just hook up an hdmi to your TV and boom, NFL ticket for $99 and probably in way better quality then streaming online

I've been a DTV Sunday Ticket subscriber for like 9 or 10 years now. I see all these deals and just wait. About a month before the season I call them and tell them how long I've been a subscriber and what can they do since there are all sorts of deals for non-subscribers. Usually I get something out of it.

# 17 DirtyJerz32 @ 05/16/13 03:33 PM
As much as I don't want to watch Jet games this year, I think I'm sold right here! That's an awesome marketing idea with Polygon. All the other retailers, GS, Best Buy, etc... should be ashamed of themselves.

# 18 DeuceDouglas @ 05/16/13 03:39 PM
So if I'm reading this right, I don't have DirectTV but if I preorder this, I can watch everything that would come with Sunday Ticket on my computer?

I normally watch all the games on some sort of stream regardless but sometimes quality is an issue. Getting that with Madden seems like a real win-win though.

In the same boat and would love clarification on this. If we get Sunday ticket and madden for 99 bucks its a no brainer.

Upon reading the article further, it sure sounds like people who already subscribe to directv get nothing. Lame. Especially considering directv usually offers Sunday ticket free to new subscribers.

As noted upthread, a lot of people will just call up to "cancel" their directv service and let the CSR try to win them back. Usually sunday ticket will be heavily discounted as part of this deal if not given outright.
