Good to see that 2K are finally stepping up their game in terms of speed of updating rosters. This is good for both ranked and online association players. Hopefully they will actually update players on MyTeam as well.

Good to know that 2K is making their Ultimate Team mode more like EA's Ultimate Mode with online and offline tournaments.

Pro Stick™ – Throw down show-stopping moves, pull off intricate shots, and toss flashy no-look passes with deadly accuracy with Pro Stick control. Easily the most intuitive basketball controls ever implemented.
I'm guessing this is what Mike Wang was talking about when he talked about fully incorporating the control stick. Hopefully signature dribbling and signature moves like Kobe's stop, pivot and spin move and Rondo's dream shake return from 2K11. Also sounds like right stick passing has been given some work as it's hardly used currently.

2K Smart Play Button –Quickly call the most suitable play for the context of the game by simply holding a single button.
Not sure why this is needed. We already have something called "Run Best Play", by pressing right on the D-Pad and then LT, and it sucks. It's random and after a while the same five plays keep getting called. Simplifying this function to a button hold will not get casuals to start calling plays. Balanced gameplay will. If you have to actually respect the defense, it will actually cause you to think.

This is encouraging. Hopefully this will improve the Pick and Roll game, and the ball handler won't have to take so much time going round the pick. Good to hear about more explosive cuts. The ones in 2K13 are pretty tame.

Always good to hear that there are thousands of new animations in the game. Where they are distributed though is important as that determines what is "favoured"/overpowered in the game. Hopefully we have a lot defensive animations, a lot for paint defense where shots animations in the paint are overpowered, and a lot for perimeter defense where contesting the 3 and containing the drive are harder than they should be.

Always good to hear about the playbook being expanded. Really glad they've addressed the spacing. I wish they had mentioned something about inbound plays working from a timeout though.

Shot System Upgrades – More realistic footwork on jump shots, improved awareness in shot selection, and a variety of new shot types. Whether you use the new intuitive Pro Stick™ or the enhanced Smart Shot Button, attacking the rim is now more exciting than ever.
More realistic footwork on jumpshots hopefully means the end of the stopping on a dime after turboing and then just raising up which is a big problem online.

Quote:
Enhanced Passing – More accurate pass targeting, new give and go mechanics, better handoffs, and an entire arsenal of new flashy passes.
Good to hear they addressed handoffs and interested in what they've done with the give and go, as the mechanics as they are now don't make it a useful option. I wish they had told us if they addressed the passing speed, which is the biggest problem with passing currently.

Quote:
All New Ball Denial - No more getting stuck during off ball bumps and ball denial, allowing for complete freedom of control over your players away from the ball.
Not really sure what this feature is about. I assumed from the title that it meant you would now be able to deny a player the ball again, just like 2K11 and games before it, but this seems to be addressing a problem in 2K12, where it's so hard setting a pick in MyPlayer because of the suction from the defenders.

Quote:
Enhanced dribbler vs. on-ball defender contact - Defenders can now initiate steals, hard bumps, and charges out of defensive rides, making locking up players on defense a much more engaging experience.
Great news. This is something which 2K13 looks really ugly at. I'm glad we'll be able to take charges out of defensive rides again like in 2K11/12. I'm sure you're already able to steal during defensive rides even if it's not as common as 2K12. Liking the idea of just hard bumping a player trying to just aggressively drive.

They need to fix up the warping though and the sliding, so contact actually means a collision.

We already have that but if they are adding controls for defense instead of just replacing them, I'll be happy.

The title here is sort of misleading. 2K posted this on Facebook as "current-gen features", so when they say "Crew and MyTEAM only on PS3 and X360" they certainly mean these modes aren't available for PC, but it doesn't say anything about next-gen (highly unlikely PS4 and X1 versions lack them). Also, next-gen exclusive features are a strong possibility, since there'd be no reason to post current and next-gen features separatedly if there were no differences.

Okay now reading the gameplay stuff I'm hyped. SMDH and jerzeyreign for being the first to post this.

Can't wait to share more details about the gameplay.

I'm very confident sim players are going to be extremely happy with the gameplay this year. Dev's looked at fan feedback and took everything into consideration.

This news should fill the appetite as we prepare to dive deeper in the coming weeks.

No that's it honestly lost the most buggy mode in 2k won. If they added crew and Euro league something had to be taken out. I'm being realistic about the situation.

No Association changes for the 3rd year in a row. I may have to pass and wait for 2k15.

Will you guys be talking next gen features any time soon? If you don't respond, then everyone is going to assume that 2K doesn't care about the gamers that are ONLY getting 2K14 on a next gen console.

I'm not going to expect MyTeam and Crew to show up on the PC but can we please get customizable arena music. The PC is due for that!

I already have 360 preordered and I'm planning on getting the PS4 and PC versions as well!

anyone know what they mean by getbacks? get back down court on defense?

# 53 Vni @ 08/14/13 08:59 PM
Yeah that's it. Stuffs that shooters do after they make a three for example. I guess that's what it is.

What's the Risk / Reward factor? RISK: same old Crew cheese happening (just like in 2K11)(current-gen only); REWARD: Crew is Back!
cheers

I'm excited to see all the updated and improved content for 2K14, even if some things weren't possibly looked at. Can't wait to see all the new signature styles and sig. skills added to the game.

I am wondering about the STATS inc. involvement in player ratings and tendencies. Do they actually track everything that players do like Synergy Sports (through video footage and stats) or will they be more statistics based editing? October and November (for next-gen) can't arrive soon enough.

from Spurs Nation/Bills Backer HQ

Best news: Learning defensive AI. This could be huge as some form of adaptive AI. Could make games against the AI much much better

Bad news: Nothing on association. Can 2k at least fix the way coaches are handled?

________

I want to know more about this. Does the Lebron James Signature skill count as one of the six with that being a preorder bonus?

Hopefully they tinkered with some of the other Signature skills as well. Some were overpowered while some were pretty underwhelming.
