NBA Live 14 News Post

Check out the latest NBA Live 14 blog, which discusses how you need to maintain a rhythm of the dribble, instead of spamming the controls. When getting into a rhythm, it becomes easier to chain from levels 1, 2 and 3.

The blog also discusses defensive controls and introduces the defensive slide feature. You will be able to attempt a dig steal, contest, and take a charge with the right stick. You will play against team specific defenses. So something that might work one night, won't work against a team that defends specific plays better on another night. You can adjust your team or specific individuals on the fly to come over the top of screens or go underneath, force players a certain direction, pressure the ball, post defense, double teams and more.

Make sure you read the entire blog here.

Cool. Hopefully you guys built off of Live 10. You had a good fundamental foundation with that game.

You guys even had a sim lobby. Looking forward to seeing what you guys produce.

Ogsports can you speak on the pull the chair move you mentioned in the podcast?

What else gameplay wise is you happy with other than the new dribble system?

Those coach options and individual player options are exactly what I asked for in the other game. I need to see in it action though. I liked all the signature dribbling stuff except for D. Rose. It didn't capture his signature dribbling well IMO. I still think the dribbling will be the highlight of this game. I haven't liked some of the animations and I think that will take away from the game.

Can you speak a little more about paint moves?

That was just one of D.Rose signature moves. When you play with him you instantly feel the difference.

Pull the chair is something that takes place in the post. The CPU uses this as well and its different with each player. Some players will look to use it before others. A lot of factors go into this.

There's also multiple options within those setting. For example, you have the ability to force a ball carrier to his strong or weak hand.

Yeah OG, one thing that I noticed with Live 10 was that the CPU didn't use all the size up moves. Will the CPU do this signature styles in 14?

I just wish it was coming out on the 15th..
That's the reason behind the level system. I'm a division one seasons champ in FIFA but I only use a small portion of the dribble moves. Its all about execution and understanding the situation, like real hoops. This feature is properly balanced and is cheddar free!

Do guys realize that there were roughly 8 animations in that size up feature throughout the league? Lol But to answer your question the answer is yes. They're constantly evaluating you, so if you back up on d-will's hesi, look for him to pull up. Excited to speak more about what were doing at the team level later.

Ok thanks what I wanted to hear. I am looking forward to seeing all this action. I admit it sounds good.

Thanks man, its important to keep these live threads positive. I get the doubt to a degree, but negativity and EA dislike should be taken to another thread. Like my man big Czar says," we need more unity in the community"

And to your earlier comment, animations are something that we'll always be improving. Constructive, and prioritized feedback is what we're looking for.

Absolutely agree. I like what I'm seeing an hearing. Just waiting on some 5on5 gameplay from a playable camera angle now.

Any ideas on when that will come?

I dont have control over when that decision is made. I'll try to help you guys around here as much as I can in the meantime. I understand that everyone wants to see 5v5.

No, thank you. Hating on EA basketball is the easy thing to do. Any "Nerf Hoop specialist" can do that. Lol, The cats who do that are usually the same person that says, "I couldn't succeed because my coach didnt like me." We are very excited to be interacting with the community and hear your suggestions moving forward. That's how games get better and that's how communities grow.
