NBA 2K14 News Post

According to NPD, NBA 2K14 is the number one selling sports title on next-gen consoles and was the number four best-selling next-gen game overall.

Below is a statement from 2K.

Quote:
"Earlier this year we promised that NBA 2K14 would be our biggest and best NBA 2K experience yet, and today we’re thrilled to see fans agree, as NBA 2K14 is now the #1 selling sports game on next-gen consoles,” said Jason Argent, SVP of Basketball Operations for 2K. “NBA 2K14 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One distinguished itself by providing an entirely new experience designed specifically for next-gen platforms, featuring all-new game modes distinct from the current-gen version of NBA 2K14. We partnered with the King of Basketball, LeBron James, as our cover athlete and delivered an unprecedented level of realism, making NBA 2K14 a showcase for the potential of next-gen gaming."

I wonder where it ranks in microtransactions.

They did really a good job on this one....except the dreaded CE error, crashes, corny script, unrealistic trade both myCareer and myGm and the list go on and on. HOPEFULLY patch #3 will address all these glaring issues...then TRULY this game is way up there. IF not...oh..how mighty has fallen.... will be cry of many.

The gameplay is amazing but still flawed. The problem is with all the crashes and bugs.

This shouldn't come as a suprise to anyone. Most of the issues people are having they had no way of knowing pre launch existed.

They have a reputation of putting out soild titles and that means something to most customers. After these issues lets see what 2K15 sales look like.

Of course it was the No.1 selling sports game on next gen...

Madden and fifa as competition? man they've been sliding down the same hole for years. 2K flashes some niiice screen caps of lebron and his headband and people go off the chain for it.

Little did they know that the game is like half finished :/

When there's only like 4 games to choose from, this isn't something to really be proud of.

When one of those game is Madden then I think they are going to be pretty happy about that...just hope all the frustration of us customers shows in sales for NBA2k15 if they don't change their direction a bit.

Typical 2K sports to be proud of such a non-event.

The PS4 has been out for about a month and 1 week, the Xbox has been out for a couple of weeks. Then you factor in that most of the consoles are being sold in the USA in which the biggest and most popular sport is basketball (big surprise).

FIFA and Madden are available on the next gen but from what I've read they aren't developed from scratch like 2K is (at least madden isn't) but they do look good. So the competition is probably between 2K and FIFA.

Let's just wait until everyone in the world has the possibility to get a PS4/Xbox one since most of these aren't even available yet in Europe. You can get them but you have to order them from the bigger markets like Germany/France/UK.

I'm sure Fifa will catch up, since soccer is the most popular sport in the world.

It's like doing a 100 metres sprint against Usain Bolt while he's still tying his laces. Fair battle.

Basketball is the most popular sport in the US. It's football, and it's not close either. I'm not sure what kind of undertone you were pitching with big surprise in parenthesis, but it doesn't seem appropriate.

It's very telling that 2K fans are posting mostly negative reactions to 2K's success here. It's not a good look that 2K's decisions and handling have actually turned their best supporters into rooting against them.
