Madden NFL 15 News Post

The Madden NFL 15 cover vote has begun. Only 16 players will square off this year, 2 of them are Eagles. The brackets will advance every Thursday until a winner is announced on SportsCenter, June 6th.

Read the full press release below.

Tonight at the NFL Draft, Electronic Arts Inc. and ESPN officially announced the details of the Madden NFL 15 Cover Vote. This year’s competition sees 16 of the brightest young stars in the game squaring off in a bracket to determine who will adorn the cover. Fans can now vote once per day at ESPN.com/maddenvote, and discuss and debate on social platforms such as @ESPNNFL and the NFL on ESPN Facebook page with the hashtag #MaddenCover. Every Thursday, the results of each round of voting will be announced during NFL Live at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN accompanied by expert analysis and conversation. Players in the running will also make special appearances on ESPN programming and platforms throughout the vote, campaigning for their right to be on the cover of Madden NFL 15. The two finalists will appear and the overall winner will be announced live from LA LIVE Plaza in a special segment during the 6 p.m. hour of SportsCenter on Friday, June 6.

Here’s the full breakdown of first-round matchups, as well as each player’s seeding in this year’s bracket:

“The Madden NFL Cover Vote is always a special time of year,” said EA Senior Director of North American Marketing Randy Chase. “I’m curious to see if the 12th Man can propel Richard Sherman to the cover, or if the 49ers fans get their revenge and knock him out of the competition. No matter what, there are going to be some great matchups and intense rivalries.”

“Every year, ESPN and EA SPORTS continue to go bigger with the Madden NFL Cover Vote, and there’s no better way to kick off the vote for Madden NFL 15 than having last year’s winner and NFL legend Barry Sanders announcing it on stage at the NFL Draft,” said Raphael Poplock, vice president of games and partnerships for ESPN. “We are building on our momentum over the last three Madden NFL Cover Votes to deliver an engaging experience that puts the cover in the hands of the fans, which have resulted in some of ESPN’s most successful social activations to date.”

Madden NFL 15 delivers everything fans need to own their rivals on both sides of the field, including the most immersive defensive gameplay control in franchise history. Like the Super Bowl XLVIII champion Seattle Seahawks, you can win championships and bask in the glory of success by building a great defense fit to challenge the best offenses in the game. Fans will also experience an entirely new broadcast presentation that delivers Madden NFL game day like never before with dramatic all-new camera angles, as well as dynamic pre-game and halftime features. It’s not just football, it’s Madden Season.

Madden NFL 15 is developed in Orlando, Florida by EA Tiburon and will be available on August 26 in North America and on August 29 in the EU for Xbox One, the all-in-one entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system and the PlayStation®3 entertainment system. I don't really care, don't intend to vote but I think only 6 of these guys got any shot. Sherman and Newton will be in the final four. It'll probably be McCoy in that bracket but Luck could win. The other will probably be Kuechly but Kaep could win. The other 10 are just there to drag this out a bit.

It will be somebody that's marketable and will sell games off the shelf.

Before anyone shouts out Hillis, there are exceptions to the rule.

If Sherman wins I won't buy the game. I'm already on the fence and considering not buying it but I for sure won't get a game with a player I hate on the cover, so he can make money off of licensing royalties.

Of course, a cowgirls fan lol. And you're talking like y'all had a defense. Wasn't the Cowboys ranked last in total defense (YPG)?

Only person I would like to see in the bracket from your team is Dez.

For the record, I never once, here or anywhere, said that any Cowboy should be in the bracket.

If I were nominating guys from the team it would be Dez, as you said and Murray, but would not expect either of them to go far.

The only way I would vote for a Cowboy is if Romo were in there, and then only with the sadistic hope that the curse would grab him and maybe he would retire from back complications or something because he irritates the heck out of me.

And no, Dallas hasn't had a decent defense in years. So no wonder they can't win anything, and judging from this year's draft they will continue to suck on defense. I have been a fan since I was little and always will be a fan of the Cowboys, but I have no illusions about what they are currently - a crappy team with a sub par coach and an idiot for a GM...

I miss the glory days with the triplets and all that defensive speed, but at least my team has glory days to look back on with fondness, as opposed to the Egirls who have never won a SB - you have to go back to black and white film to find a significant Egirls team...

You know you're making every Cowboys fan on the planet look bad right? Just making sure you know.

Spoiler

You didn't say a Cowboys player should be in the bracket, but you've singled out the Eagles out of anyone when it's other teams with more than 1 player in the bracket. Then you went on to talk about our defense and team history when your team was last in defense and has been the definition of mediocre for years now. The cover is for '15 and we are better than the Cowboys. Now if it was in the 90's, you would have a point.

Spoiler

I've never heard of the EGirls lol. But, you can't tell me you haven't heard of the Cowgirls. That's what division rivals have been calling them for years. Loved the gif though.

Oh, I got it - just think they're dumb insults; just like when I hear other Bears fans call Minnesota the Viqueens.

They are dumb lol. I was just joking w/ him though. I don't usually call them "Cowgirls" because it's pretty lame to me, but I was just teasing.

The "EGirls" and your gif had me cracking up. Never heard of that and it a worst than "Cowgirls"z

Whilst it doesn't HAVE to be Richard Sherman; it has to be Richard Sherman especially with the Madden 15 'features' that have been released.

Won't matter who gets the cover if this game is gonna be garbage for another year.

How do you know? I imagine it would sell better if someone likeable is on the cover.

shock to see they did not jut make Johnny Football a option for the cover

He wasn't drafted when they did the bracket.

So....the emphasis is on defense...and there are only 2 players who play defense in the running....things that make ya go "hmm"

The NFL doesn't really care about defense anymore and Madden seems to be running out of stupid things to put "emphasis" on so they've moved on to defense it seems...and I would assume putting a defensive player on the cover seems less exciting to EA

If one believes that the vote is rigged, Hillis isn't the exception to the rule, he's the reason for the rule. If anything they would have instituted to avoid three straight Tebow covers

Anyway I think that it's ridiculous to have teams with multiple players while other teams are left out. I think it should be one player from each playoff team and four from the non-playoff teams.

1) Richard Sherman

2) Demaryius Thomas

3) Navorro Bowman

4) Devin McCourty if Brady won't do it I guess.

5) Jimmy Graham

6) Luke Kuechly

7) LeSean McCoy

8) Keenan Allen

9) AJ Green

10) Jamaal Charles

11) Andrew Luck

12) Eddie Lacy

13) Antonio Brown

14) Josh Gordon

15) Patrick Peterson

16) JJ Watt

That IMO is a much better bracket.

The fact that people get so up in arms over who is even in the vote itself just goes to show why EA does it every year.

As for the vote itself, it reminds of the stuff I've seen on WWE where the fans get to choose an opponent or opponents for somebody on any given night. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what the fans vote for, the script reads what it reads. But personally, I couldn't care less who makes it on the cover. They could put John Madden's hairy back on it for all I care.
