MLB 14 The Show News Post

The OSFM Hybrid V2 is now released and in the Vault - I have included the description of the roster from the V1 thread below with some updates.

Version 2.1a has been placed in the Vault, called OSFM Hybrid 2014 v.2.1a

It is a slight ratings tweak with +5 added to discipline thanks to Waittilnextyear who came across and found this - it basically get most offensive categories as close to real life as you could want

What is the OSFM Hybrid you ask?

It is the OSFM Full Minors with a full ratings re-rate. It gives a uniform blanket rating system that brings everything together and makes very realistic game play.

What does this include?

The roster is based off the OSFM, which if you don't know is a collection of great contributors, run by Knight165 who create minor league players and major league players who were not included in this game. It is also based off of Knight's OSFM Player Ratings Charts

We have re-rated all stats for both minor leaguers whom we had info for as well as all the SCEA original players who came in the game.

The stats we use are ZiPs preseason ratings created by Dan Szymborski, they are gathered into a spreadsheet and formulated to match ratings values in the game.

All hitting and defense ratings have been changed as well as pitcher ratings including pitch type, control and velocity updates using Seanjeezy's pitch edits

Potentials were also reviewed and altered where necessary.

The roster has accurate 40 man rosters to today's date, as well as accurate as possible hitting lineups and pitching lineups for all levels. Players who are currently on 60 day disabled lists or suspended are not included in their respective teams 40 man roster and can be found on the A ball roster.

Also we have added many AAA and AA players who were not included in the OSFM - some prospects may have been removed or been put in the FA Pool to make room for players who should be in the roster - you really don't want very young top prospects playing in AAA or even AA.

Stance, Motion and Equipment updates were done where we knew changes needed to be made or could be made.

PLEASE DO NOT LOOK AT THE OVERALLS FOR PLAYERS AS A WAY TO GUAGE THEIR VALUE Players overalls are weighted by a variety of things based on the position they play. With this re-rate most players did go down in overalls, and really the league balances out to where it should be. Player ratings are what they are. We made some adjustments to physical attributes but the pure stat based attributes are the same base across the board.

This is what the Overalls should represent

90+ - All Star and Superstar Caliber

80+ - high end regulars and All Starts

70+ - everyday players and bench players

60+ - Bench players and career minor league players

50+ - low level prospects and Organization fillers

NEW players updates were included in this roster with the exception of pitchers at this time - aprx 200 updates were applied in this release

A roster like this can't happen without the support of many great individuals whom deserve a ton of credit - I hope I remember everyone and spell their names correct

ttbucsfan001 created our ratings spreadsheet
teeds - my partner in crime, created a ton of players, handled the transactions and organizing of players we needed to create and replace
cultbuscus - spent countless hours creating and helping input ratings
sky63 - assisted for several days importing the OSFM players
DarionC14 - did 90% of the hitter re-rate
mmorg - did most of the OSFM re-rate
totte - helped with testing the roster
davis25 - helped create players
shaneomac - helped with rating and player creations
authentic - ran the pitch edits
Iliveforthis - also on pitch edits
Waittilnextyear - assisted in running a ton of tests and finding/compiling needed corrections
Seanjeezy - his pitch edits make those possible

I ask that if you have constructive criticism that is fine but do not use this thread to complain. There is well over 100 hours poured into this project and several broken relationships and marriages.......lol

The roster is a little late this year, but I am very proud to put my name behind it. I hope everyone enjoys this.

Thank you to all the helpers and the community for helping us along the way with suggestions, transaction updates and just entertaining posts.

Note it is recommended that you play this roster with 30 Team Control - more info to be included shortly

The roster can be found in the Vault under the following name:

OSFM HYBRID 2014 V2.............psn Crapinmyshoe

How to use 30 team control is below

You set you profile up as you want - I tend to leave the banking and crap at auto but any player stuff is set to manual

Setting 2 should be set up as follows

Manual Control - 40 man roster, lineups, trades, waivers, rosters

Auto Control - Banking, Training, Management, Transportation

You can go into Gameplay setting and change injuries on both profiles to manual if you want to do the injuries yourself, off or CPU

I tend to do manual to start the year and disable any players out for the season

If you want to let the CPU make trades - when you start your franchise put CPU trading on but also turn off instant trades - check the transactions in your franchise every day - skim through and cancel any stupid trades the CPU wants to make.

Remember you can change on of the player 2 or your own settings anytime during your franchise

Is that V2.1 the roster that has the +5 add on the discipline attribute that everyone is talking about? I know Willard had released the Version 2 of the Hybrid and then there was one released with +5 for discipline.

I have compiled a sheet with DL transactions by day.

hope it helps.

Thanks man. Sorry to keep asking questions...

For RTTS is there an option and/or will you injure players that are in Single-A and do any other roster adjusments or will you leave everything as is after uploading from the vault. I know if I was starting a Franchise with Hybrid 2a or 2.1a I would need to make those moves to keep it realistic and stuff.

You could just use stock SCEA rosters.......

Could you please start a new thread with this stuff? You've been a bit in left field suggesting completely random things that might confuse people. Since 3 roster versions have dropped in the past week, some are confused enough as is without this extraneous info.

Thanks.

Thanks for all the hard work everyone.

I'm finally set. Recliner pulled in front of the tv. Snacks to the right. No work for 24 hours. Girlfriend informed to entertain herself. I'm set.

30 team control set up and I injured the guys out for the season if I thought they would have an impact(arod, Harvey, etc.) but left the bottom feeders alone I don't care about them.

Now it's time to begin the long journey of making the Astros World Series champs! Let's play ball!

Overall this is a great roster. Those guys put in countless hours of their own time to do a thankless job so we can enjoy the game even more than we would have to begin with. Kudos to those who worked on it. Question some of the ratings though. For STL Molina has a 62 speed rating. Matt Adams, while fat and slow, has a 27 speed rating. That's a huge disparity not to mention that for years Molina was considered one of the slowest base runners in baseball. While Adams certainly deserves a low speed rating, the 62 given to Molina was very generous.

From what I've read a couple times, it sounds like all the ratings are in relation to their position, I could be wrong though. If that is the case I don't agree with how they did that, but that's probably what they had to do. But yeah, Yadi should be a lot slower.

Or it could just be an oversight, they did a lot. feel free to change it yourself.

These rosters are incredible. Just played my first game in my season and won 4-3 in extras. I like to do fantasy drafts (which conveniently avoids me having to do 30 team control), and the last play of the game was a fly out to Giancarlo Stanton (on the Washington Nationals), who then threw out the game tying run at home on a laser of a throw. Great gameplay. I use TNK's sliders and I love them. The only thing I have noticed so far is that Jorge Soler in the Cubs organization is 25 and he is actually 22 in real life. But just an amazing job all around. Thank you so much.

Loving the rosters thus far. Not related but can you jump dynamic difficulties up? Starting in rookie kind of inflated my offense in game one of my franchise lol .. If not oh we'll I have 161 games to level things out

I finally started my Franchise today and holy hanna we did a good job. I was blown away and almost giggling in my first ST game today - which is probably not great for a near 40 year old to admit to (note my real ball team lost a heartbreaker this afternoon before I played ps4)

Watched Anthony Gose run down a ball in CF that Rasmus couldn't get earlier in the game and Revere get almost anything in the air - insane.

I think you meant PS3 instead of PS4 right? Thanks! The download folder says PS3 anyhow!

This version is specifically for PS4 and you can't transfer files via a usb stick on the PS4 yet unless it's too the same PSN account.

Firstly, holy crap am I having a blast right now. I started my Twins franchise and set the rosters down to 25 as well as calling up top guys who were injured. I simmed all the way to May 30th and it was scary how accurate the sim was as far as team records. Every division basically matched up to the real life standings on Friday. Anyway my goal is to play every game from here on out. I started with the Yankees series and just faced Tanaka. Tanaka was ridiculous for 4 innings. I couldn't touch his splitter. He was painting corners and his splitter would fall off the table. In the 5th inning against him though I drew a leadoff walk. Then strung together two base hits on very good pitches. The whole 5 innings I was just waiting for something to hang but never got it. Tanaka hadn't thrown one curve all game until I had the guys on 2nd and 3rd with Mauer up. I sat on the first pitch curve and hit it 6 rows deep into Right Center to take a 5-1 lead. It's honestly one of the coolest feelings I've ever had playing this game.

The only flaw I've noticed so far is that I have thrown out 4 runners from the OF in 2 games. 2 with Willingham, 1 with Arcia, and 1 with Hicks. Arcia and Hicks have guns but I'm trying to figure out if it's just bad baserunning decisions by the CPU or if I need to tone down throw power or bump up runner speed. Throw power and baserunning speed are just touchy areas. If you lower throw speed guys can start beating out IF hits and the same goes for bumping up runner speed. Any suggestions?

The newer one that was originally posted under PSN GI Joe? This is the section for PS3 rosters though & not PS4. Shouldn't the PS4 roster only be posted in that section of the forums? Surely, we can get a PS3 file posted for this newer roster edits since this is the PS3 section & not PS4.

This thread is in the PS3 section so PS3 rosters should only be posted really. Was these newer edits not done/added to PS3 version at all? Thanks!

The newest V2.1a roster was created on PS4. I don't have capability to do off-line and I don't own a PS3, so you'd have to ask someone else who can access the roster vault to help you out.

The distinction between PS3 and PS4 rosters has become blurry due to cross-platform saves. I doubt there will even be a PS3 section this time next year.

Sounds like a slider issue, not a roster issue. In my own personal slider set that I've been using with all iterations of OSFM, I have fielder arm strength at 5 and baserunner speed at 4. Maybe your arm strength is higher? Maybe your baserunner speed is lower? From time to time the cpu will make bad decisions to go for an extra base, though that shouldn't happen often.
