NBA 2K16 News Post

As mentioned earlier today, the NBA 2K16 patch #6 has already arrived for PlayStation 4 users, weighing in at 2.4GB. As soon as we get the patch notes, we will update this post. Until then, let us know what you are seeing.

Xbox One users will see the patch later, no official ETA has been given.

UPDATE: Here are the patch notes.
  • Updated player portraits for a number of players.
  • Tuned the effectiveness of long outlet passes for players with the Break Starter badge.
  • Delay branching from Kobe Bryant Back size-up.
  • Re-worked size-up dribble launches to prevent unnaturally explosive first steps.
  • Tune miss chances for deep downcourt and cherry picking.
  • Dock vertical and rebounding when you go behind the basket. Don’t reset 3-in-the-key offense timer in baseline behind paint for human controlled blacktop players.
UPDATE #2: The patch has arrived for Xbox One users.

UPDATE #3 (5-19): The patch is now available for PC users.

I agree that centers shouldn't have access to most of the guard dribble animations. They should have to pick from a set of slower big-man-only dribble packages.

But their three point rating maxes out at a 75, which isn't good enough to get a green release from the top of the key or wing unless they have a red ring of rhythm. Unless they're heated up, centers are only a reliable three point threat from the corner, as they can get a green release down there if they have the gold corner specialist badge.

Outside centers thrive in the mid-range, but not so much from three. That's pretty true to real life. There are a lot of dangerous mid-range shooters in the NBA at the center position.

Acceleration doesn't really do a good job of covering it.

It would also make "smooth but not explosive" players easier to replicate in-game.

I just played someone that cherry picked all game. And kept throwing the ball out of bounds. AI picked off passes of too. It was great!

Play a baller in the park and come back to me lol

They dribble like these tiny gaurds and spot up for a three....swish...extremely annoying to cover....

Played more games in my park...they seemed to fix that unbreakable back peddling animation. Boxing out for rebounding seemed fixed as well...

Yeah with boosts , park cards , and baller boosts centers do get a nice 3 point shot

My only issue is why change it now? We still have another 2 chances to qualify for RTTF. I think they should've held off until then to make changes. Pro-AM will be interesting this weekend.

Played more games...so far it feels like real ball to me. My defensive center finally feels like a presence inside. See how long this last though lol

User I just played was still able to break me down off the dribble. The only cheese thing he could rely on was pump faking the CPU up in the air.

Only problem is my 6'10 SF cant make a pass longer than 15 feet. Everything else is amazing, can actually play Park and not wanna kill every Booster

I never watch people play this game on Twitch because most of them are terrible casual players but I just logged on to see some of the streams and everyone is so mad.

It's honestly hilarious to watch and read the titles, RIP NBA 2K16...what a joke.

Was able to get a few Park games in and it was such a joy compared to what it was.

Any off-line gamers notice any differences OR is the Patch strictly for On-Line?

imo I think only way speed bursts and explosive first step can work and not be a exploit in the game is if the stamina system makes a impact.

Players need a stamina bar and the longer you turbo you will deplete the players stamina bar. The prolonged use and of turbo and speed burst would than decrease bar. Example you start with 100, abuse the turbo and the bar can only recover to 90 and so on.

Having stamina play a big factor would allow playrrs a new way to strategize when to use turbo or when to explode out of a dribble.
