Not So PC
Not so deep thoughts.

It’s awful hard to get good impressions on a football game with only 2 minute quarters as it hurts your ability to run many plays and you tend to play hurry up and pass more than usual. What really hurts though is the inability to access the sliders. I’d love to see sliders available in next year’s demo. The game does not fit my skill set on either AA (cpu offence is really weak) or Heisman default and so my fun factor isn’t as high as it could be. Overall it’s a pretty decent demo where I don’t ... After being frustrated with a few things in 2K11 like franchise fatigue (broken) and injuries (crazy number of them = broken) and a lack of ground balls, I played the Show 11 demo and decided to rent the game for two days. I played roughly three full games so it’s not a big sample size but I’ve also got years of previous Show experience (06 through 09). It’s pretty clear to me that there are strengths to both games and that I would suffer frustrations in both games so I will simply stay with 2K11 ... Read More

This review is written after playing almost 50 games of the retail copy. It deals exclusively with offline gameplay and does not touch My Player. There are many improvements to 2K11 over 2K10. There is no question that 2K11 is vastly superior to 2K10 in many ways but it still has some significant errors. Unfortunately the reputation of being a buggy and unfinished product is earned and 2K11 lives up to its past errors.

MLB 11 The Show has sold quite poorly compared to MLB 10 The Show on the PS3 and worse than MLB 09 as well. Through two weeks MLB 11 The Show has only sold 130,000 copies per vgchartz (http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales/49246/mlb-11-the-show/). MLB 10 had sold 219,000 through two weeks and MLB 09 had sold 157,000. Despite the fact the game added analog controls gamers have chosen to either wait or not buy the game.

MLB 2K11 hasn't fared much better. On the 360 2K11 has sold 82,000 ... Read More

It’s disappointing that 2K Sports released such a limited demo. This is what they usually do but releasing a demo without difficulty options, camera options, slider options and no commentary doesn’t allow you to get a true feel for how the game will be. The commentary is one of the best things about the game (based on 2K10) and yet people aren’t able to experience it. At least I knew that going into the demo. Overall I’m happy with my demo experience although how I really feel about the game ... Read More

Blood Stone is a typical 3rd person shooter that features Daniel Craig as the rough and tumble Bond agent. The game puts a heavy emphasis on the story which is as good as a typical Bond movie. The graphics are decent with nothing to complain or rave about. Much of the focus is on taking cover and firing but stealth does play a significant role in the game. While you can choose to “crash the party” some areas are nearly impossible to defeat without using stealth. There are also quite a few racing ... Read More

The NFL fines and disciplines players any way they want and the NFLPA just bends over. The most popular and profitable sport in North America and it's union is a gutless piece of crap. The way they have fined some of the defensive guys, with no real appeal process, has been poor imo and criticized by many. But the NFLPA just shuts its mouth and does nothing about it.

Now Brett Favre gets fined $50,000 for not co-operating in the Sterger case? I've lost a lot of respect for the guy over ... Read More

I like instant replay. I hate seeing bad umpires or referees blow calls and ultimately games. There was a bad call in the ninth inning of the Yankee game last night where the outfielder, Greg Golston, made a shoe string catch that was ruled a trap. It didn’t cost the Yankees the game but it could have. There is an outcry for expanded instant replay in baseball. But how far do you go? Does that include challenges on balls and strikes the way tennis has for line calls? How much human element ... Read More

After playing around 75 games of NCAA 11 I have a pretty good grasp of my thoughts on the game. I’ve played the game after each patch (with patch #2 having a terrible effect on the cpu running game) and I’ve also used a conventional offense and spread offense. Overall the game is solid but still has some crucial areas it needs to improve upon. I don’t play online so I will not comment on that aspect.

• This area improved a bit. ESPN integration ... Read More

I play on All-American, Slow speed, with 7 minute quarters. I've had to make some adjustments post-patch but I'm pretty close. These sliders work for me and are for my reference and others that may want to know what I'm using. They are not guaranteed to work for anyone else.

I really like NCAA 12. It's not perfect but it's a lot of fun. A lot of things in a game can be fixed via sliders. Sometimes we can’t fix everything and some sliders that we like do not exist. I’m proposing some new sliders for NCAA 12 to allow us to fine-tune and fix the game to our liking.

New Man and Zone Pass Coverage Sliders
There have been many complaints about how good man pass coverage this year. The effectiveness of man vs. Zone coverages has been debated in the ... Read More

I like to blog my early thoughts so I can go back and look at how my feelings evolve over time with a game. I posted this in the main impressions thread as well.

I’ve played almost 3 games now with seven minute quarters and I’m enjoying it. I wasn’t blown away at first but I think I’ve grown to like it more as I continue to play it. I still feel that after three games it’s still way too early to judge how the game will play but I think this will be a good game.

I'm finding that MLB 2K10 is a very fun and very flawed game. I still enjoy it but there are plenty of areas where it could be improved. I only play one season, and I never get through a full one as I drop it for football when NCAA comes out, so I won't even touch on the franchise issues that others are reporting (player progression as an example). My only beef is that the patch ruined the proper displaying of player names on jerseys for edited players (they simply still display the old name). ... Read More

While some teams like that big bruising RB that can handle 30 carries a game, that bulk should be natural and not forced. The college game is more suited to quick and speedy backs so guys like Best, Forsett, Bush, J.Rodgers, Devine, etc all flourish. Of course big backs like Ricky Williams and Ron Dayne can also excel in college but my point is that any type of back can have success in NCAA. The pro game is more suited to the bigger backs but I think the NFL makes a big mistake when it asks kids ... Read More

POSITIVES
· I thought the pass rush was pretty good on AA. Played 5 games on that level and it's too easy despite my rust. I went 4-1 and beat OSU pretty easily with Miami.
· Playing as a DL is a lot of fun. Less suction blocking imo. I was able to get some nice sacks with the Miami DE and the Clemson DE. It felt instinctive and fun with the r-stick moves. Probably too easy to get user pressure as opposed to my cpu lineman teammates although I never tried any game ... Read More
